PSYC 1020 Report Two: History, Behavioural Treatment, Underlying Causes of Dysfunction, and Future Treatment Plans

This report discusses the history, behavioural treatment, underlying causes of dysfunction, and future treatment plans for Jackson's severe mental health issues. Jackson's mental health issues were observed from infancy and persisted throughout his life, leading to self-injurious behaviour and hospitalization. Behavioural treatment included therapy sessions and recording of all actions, while underlying causes of dysfunction were related to cognitive and emotional development. Future treatment plans include therapies to improve aggression and physical wellness, as well as changes in medical treatments and scenarios for emotional stability.

PART-1 HISTORY
As per the given case study of Jackson it can be determined that Jackson had a severe
mental health issues that is related with the damaging injurious behaviour. The issue of the
Jackson was not occurred after his birth but it was persisting when Mrs Morrow was pregnant.
Jackson's behaviour and mental health issues was highly injurious that has been observed by Mrs
Morrow at the various life stages of his journey. This health impact was observed right from the
infancy till its later stage of life. Jackson was 3-6 month behind the developmental abilities.
When he was at the age of 5 he performed the act of fire setting. Jackson actions was highly
problematic that he was not being allowed to school. When Jackson was firstly diagnosed then
the issue of ADHD was identified. Various abnormality was seen in the case of Jackson in terms
of enlargement of Pituitary gland and the caudate part of the Basal Ganglia was also shown an
enlargement. At the age of 9 the abnormality and mental issues related with emotional and self-
injurious behaviour returned back. During his 9 year of age he committed self-injury that has
lead to entitled him with drug therapy. In short during the entire journey of Jackson he
committed many actions that has an impact towards his health in term of self-health-hazard.
PART-2 OVERVIEW OF BEHAVIOURAL TREATMENT
During the various stage of life journey various treatment in terms of physical health treatment
including hospitalization and various diagnosis was also performed. In the same way the
behavioural treatment in terms of psychological treatment was also included in this. The
behavioural treatment also includes the various therapy session that was given to Jackson in
relation to its mental health issue. The therapy session was given 5 days a week and twice a day.
The hard meal would be given to Jackson during the sessions. During those sessions the silent
switch would been placed by the therapist while the occurrence of self-injurious action. Along
with this the response of the Jackson was also recorded that would enable the observance of its
behaviour.

In order to deal with the harmful and self-harm actions the adequate recording of all the action
and stroking treatment would be given. All the actions including the injurious action of the
Jackson would be recorded by the therapist during the therapy. The session records every
behavioural change in Jackson that is being acted by it. Along with enabling session the result
and outcome of every session would be measured with the previous one so that the behaviour of
Jackson would be observed and determined adequately.
PART 3: Underlying causes of dysfunction
Jackson has been going under different treatments such as cognitive, physical,
occupational and even speech therapy, where concerns regarding cognitive and emotional
development had been searching for diagnostic treatment. The causes of dysfunction are long-
standing concerns regarding cognitive and emotional development, where he has been facing
trouble since infant. The clarification and treatment have been undergone since infant, where
long-standing concerns have been further impacting physical and emotional well-being. The
behavioural feature, such as wrapping body parts and holding objects within daily lie has
reduced physical activeness. The self-restraint usually has been severe, as they were harmful due
to loss of circulation and extremities within varied chaining participation in daily activities. It
can be analysed that during sessions, physical abilities of Jackson were not proper which showed
that it has slowly lowered emotional well-being as well. Aggressive behaviour, and scores
produced in behavioural assessment have been further extending aspects that syndrome, problem
scale and total care where clinical behaviour was improper. While Jacksons self injurious
behaviour is reduced, numerous issues have been found, where he has broken his jaw numerous
times and lost teeth and chunks out of his cheeks. Jackson need to be given intensive care, where
anxiety and depression has been consistent within behaviour and should be given therapies.
PART 4: Future treatment plans
The future treatment plans, for establishing Jackson improvement in behavioural wellness
can be understood that as there are high levels of anxiety and depression consistent within
outburst of frustration. Jackson should be given therapies related to further improvise aggression,
and habits such as slamming of walls and furniture where there has to be improvement done in
his regular behaviour. His physical wellness in lost teeth and chunks in tongue cheeks where
undertaking treatment for improvising his immediate needs further will outburst rise on
immediate healthcare treatment delivery. Jackson regressive behaviour scores have summed up

that there are further changes which needs to be done, such as internalizing and externalizing
scales for improved psychology treatments. There should be comfortable treatment done to
Jackson, regarding tackling issues of immediate needs and strengthening his social needs for
further making him confident in behaviour. It has been also identified that future treatment plans
such as changes in medical treatments and scenarios connected where Doctors and nurses have to
be also specific in providing Jackson emotional stability.
