Question 1
Fundamental Attribution Error is the tendency where a person is judged in an unpleasant manner
attributing the person’s behavior to internal factors and explanations as we fail to consider the
circumstances that lead to such a behavior.
When we were young, there was this girl who used to urinate on herself in school every time. All
children would laugh at her as we thought she wanted to do it but little did we know that her
bladder had a problem.
Question 2
The way attitude influences action depends on processing level that is through self perception or
cognitive dissonance.
Question 2a
Those passengers who board last and don’t have companions to sit with are forced to sit there
with no luggage thus forcing them to pay an extra fee for any luggage they had.
Question 2b
Cognitive dissonance is where conflicting attitude, behavior or belief produce discomfort of
feelings thus leading to alteration so as to be able to minimize any discomfort and ensure there is
balance.
Question b1
The students who were paid $ 20 found the task interesting as there was no dissonance as being
paid $ 1 was not enough incentive to lie and the way to overcome their dissonance was to lie that
the experiment was interesting.
