Many students feel that they can concentrate better in the study while listening to
music, however, according to some, it is distracting and the brain requires silence for
functioning at an optimal level while studying (Bhatt, 2017). To test the idea of whether
listening to rock music while studying help in better learning need formulation of a
hypothesis. Thus, I formulate a hypothesis that states that listening to rock music during study
help in learning among students.
It is not possible to conduct an observational study to determine the enhancement of
the learning ability of learners by observing them. This will not allow in the assessment of the
level of learning while listening to rock music; therefore, it requires an evaluation of the
outcome observed among learners. Therefore, a correlation study can be used for evaluating
the impact of rock music on learning effectiveness. Zainuddin and Halili (2016) opined that
various kinds of research tools could be used for conducting a study. However, based on the
topic, the research technique needs to be chosen for determining the objective of the study. In
this case, the use of long-term study will be useful for the researcher in inferring the
outcomes. A correlational study is based on exploring the relationship between the dependent
and independent variables in an accurate manner. The two variables in this research include
listening to rock music and learning, where the statistical analysis method can be used for
analysing the data obtained. The expected outcome of the study is there is a positive impact
of listening to rock music while studying on students.
While conducting the research, it is important to keep in mind certain ethical aspects
and considerations that will help in enhancing reliability and validity. It is important to obtain
prior informed consent from the participants; maintenance of the right of the respondents of

withdrawing from the survey at their own choice and debriefing process needs to be
conducted for the subject prior to the data collection method.
