INTRODUCTION
This essay will examine the causes of different mental health disorder. Thinking, emotion
or behaviour of the person change due to mental health disorder. The three disorders that will be
discussed in the essay will be anxiety, depression and eating disorder. The critical review will be
conducted on the causes of these disorder.
Critical analysis of the causes of anxiety
As stated by Hudak and Jacob, (2015), for several disorders anxiety is a general term that
causes fear, worrying, nervousness among humans. It affects the behaviours and feelings of the
humans. Before confronting something challenging such as interview, exam etc people
experience a general state of worry or fear. According to VanElzakker and Shin, (2014), the
apprehensive behaviours such as worry can be one of the causes of the anxiety. The interference
can be caused in normal lifestyle due to anxiety and worry. But on the other hand, as per
Moscati, Flint and Kendler, (2016), the work stress or job change can also be the cause of
anxiety as workload in office can develop stress among people. Death or loss of loved ones can
also cause the anxiety as they are attached to that person so worry and fear can be caused due to
their loss. According to Mabe, Forney and Keel, (2014), the problems in the family or any
financial crisis that is faced in the family can also lead to anxiety among people. However, the
condition of anxiety can also be addressed due to chronic physical illness. The anxiety conditions
that are associated with common chronic condition can be diabetics, asthma and heart diseases.
In the development of anxiety disorder development, the genetic factors also play a role. The
problems in the family such as early separation from family and the lack of strong support
system can lead to chronic anxiety (Mayo, 2015).
Critical analysis of the causes of Depression
As stated by Fried and Nesse, (2015), depression can negatively affect the way how the
people feel, think and act. The feelings of sadness and loss of interest in the work can be caused
by depression. In today's world, a lot of people are suffering from this mental disorder as due to
events of life such as work issues, divorce among partners and the financial issues etc can lead to
depression among individual. However as per Yirmiya, Rimmerman and Reshef, (2015), the
long-term unemployment and uncaring relationship can also be the causes of depression. The
personal factors such as family history can also be their cause of depression as the depression can
