Introduction
Health promotion programs aim to engage and empower individuals and
communities to choose healthy behaviours, and make changes that reduce the risk
of developing chronic diseases and other morbidities. Healthy behaviour will assist in
enhancing health outcome of an individual. Present report will lay emphasis on
description of specific target group and community. It will also focus on how this
public health promotion will be beneficial for target group. Assignment will also
provide goals/ aims for the health promotion are and what the health promotion
project is aiming to achieve. It will also identify public health promotion management
strategies.
Health Promotion and Target Group Outline-
The target group which has been selected for the present case scenario is health
management of non indigenous adult male of 40 years and above who have been
diagnosed with COPD. The prevalence rate of chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease is really high in adults aged above 40. This disease is laying severe impact
on health outcome of an individual which has hampered the quality of life of patients.
According to National Health survey (2017-2018) in Australians aged 45 and over
was 4.8%, an estimated 464,000 people (Briggs, (2018). It has been analysed that
COPD affects about 1 in 20 Australians aged above 40 years. It has also been
analysed that individuals who are been involved in smoking cigars are at six percent
more risk of getting infected by this disease. This disease is 5th most common cause
of death in Australia. COPD is highly affecting male adults above the age of 40 and
also reducing their quality of life. The main signs and symptoms of COPD is basically
chronic cough. It has been estimated that about 1.5 million people living in Australia
has been suffered with this disease. It is also known as emphysema. Health
management related to this disease of target group will help in improvising health
outcome of males who have been suffering from it.
Public health promotion and health management related to non-indigenous
males of 40 years and above age will be beneficial for them. This will be useful for
improvising the health outcome and well-being of individuals who are been suffering
from it. Public health programs and policies have been implemented which focuses
on prevention on the use of tobacco, reducing exposure to occupational hazards so

that dust and chemicals can be prevented. This health promotion and management
strategies will assist in enhancing the health outcome of adult male suffering from
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It has been analysed and evaluated from the
research is that COPD affects 1 in 20 Australian males over the age of 40. It has
also been analysed that the smokers are more at risk of developing the disease
(Karasu & Aylaz, (2020).
They can suffer from problem such as shortness of breath, coughing. Individual
male who are been suffering from COPD can also go through problem of frequent
respiratory infections. Male can also suffer from fatigue and they can also be unable
to perform the day to day tasks. They can also face lack of energy and unintended
weight loss. Health management and promotional strategies can assist in enhancing
health outcome of non –indigenous male suffering from COPD. It has also been
analysed that education must be provided to males about the early signs and
symptoms related to disease. This will help in reducing the risk related to COPD
which can be faced by male above the age of 40. It has also been analysed that if
asthma is been treated at early stage than COPD can be prevented.
Health Promotion Aims
The main aim and objective of the health promotion and health management
strategies is enhance health and well being of males over the age of 40 who has
been suffering from COPD. It has also been analysed that scientists has also
designed COPD-SMART which can be used as the effective self management
intervention. The main goal and objective of health promotion strategies like this is to
enhance the functioning of patients by laying special focus on self management
strategies related to COPD (Clark & Lee, (2019). The health promotion strategies are
also implemented to make sure that they are also laying focus on enhancing and
changing the life style pattern by engaging male adults suffering from COPD in
physical activity. This will assist in enhancing the health outcome of male patient who
has been suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The health
promotion activities also include providing education to patients in order to enhance
their quality of life. It has also been analysed that programs and policies. Health

To provide education related to early signs and symptoms of COPD in 70% of
the non indigenous males suffering from COPD.
To enhance health outcome of adult make suffering from COPD by raising
awareness among them till the end of year.
Increase effective collaboration among stakeholders with COPD-related
interests; and they are also making sure that regular stake tobacco activities are
been implemented all over state so that health outcome of male above the age of 40
can be improved. Various initiatives have been taken such as assisting workplace
programs and policies so that risk related to COPD can be reduced. They are also
increasing awareness related to early signs and symptoms of the disease. This will
assist the state in enhancing and managing the risk factors related to chronic

Tertiary)
The health promotion is mainly targeting the adult men above the age of 40 by
engaging in health management activities in order to reduce the risk related to
COPD. It will focus on providing guidance related to managing the early signs and
symptoms of the disease. It will also provide education related to maintain and
changing the life style pattern so that risk related to chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease will be reduced. They will also be involved in motivating the patients to be
engaged in changing their physical activities and life style pattern so that health
outcome of non-indigenous male can be enhanced.
This is the primary prevention (Lundell et.al., (2017).. In the secondary prevention
the students will be asked to fill out the questionnaire on the methods they have
used to manage health outcome of males suffering from COPD. This questionnaire
will assist them in analysing and interpreting the data. In the secondary prevention
screening and early detection of disease will also be done. The tertiary prevention
will also include COPD-SMART which can be used as the effective self management

intervention. The main purpose of health promotion strategies like this is to enhance

There are various stakeholders which are been involved in this health promotion
process of managing health of adult men over the age of 40 suffering from COPD. It
has also be analysed that needs and demands of stakeholders must also be

ET.AL., (2020). Students must be engaged in asking questions to male who have
