Introduction
Healthcare sector is one of the fastest growing sectors in every part of the world, different
healthcare organisations are now implementing new technologies and programs for providing
quality care to the patient as Patient’s health and safety is the main priority of healthcare
organisation. To achieve this there is a need of improvement in different sector such as patient
care technologies, advanced medical devices, implementing risk assessment programs (Scanlon,
Alexander, Beich, Christianson, Wynia, McHugh, & Bodenschatz, 2012). Quality improvement
in healthcare settings is not something that necessarily is noticed by the patient in the day to day
activity. They actually happen in the background of routine activities. Quality improvement
programs are the set of concentrated action modified to monitor, examine and enhance the
quality of the healthcare processes in relation to enhance the outcome of the health care in the
particular organisation. Improved quality in healthcare directly correlated with enhanced patient
satisfaction. There is a number of organizations currently implementing the quality initiative in
their setting (Abdallah, 2014). In this particular assessment report, the quality initiative in an
organisation will be proposed, in addition to the approaches to manage the change process.
Case
I am a nurse with no previous experience, works in the emergency department of the St.
Stephan multispecialty hospital. Although the healthcare organisation was quite effective in
patient satisfaction regarding nursing services and timely treatment, they still had out-dated
patient care technologies. After being criticized for its out-dated technologies and lack of quality
care they decided to implement advance programs and IT services. I also want to be involved to
support the quality initiative and successful implementation of the programs in the hospital.

There are different new initiatives implemented in the organization such as collaboration, real-
time feedback infrastructure, data best practices, and engaged frontline staff.
Quality initiatives
The healthcare setting these days are experiencing the expanding needs that might place
enhanced demand for their system and possessions. Different healthcare providers needs
solutions for those demands, for example, enterprise data warehouse, and another technological
advancement which can help to provide the platform for support associated with the analytics
and decision-making process (Duggirala, Rajendran, & Anantharaman, 2008). They also require
cooperative multidisciplinary groups to flourish in the multifaceted and quickly altering the
regulatory atmosphere. Some of the patient care technologies initiate by the hospital were;
Tele-health; telehealth services are the most effective initiatives the hospital have had
ever implemented in their setting. One of the examples of these services is tele-medicine. This
particular tool allows the patient to reach to their physician easily, without spending their time
and efforts in a hospital visit for small concerns (Scanlon et al., 2012). By using these tools
patient can directly connect with the doctor from home and discuss their medication and
complication. Being able to manage the symptoms of the patient at home indicates the physicians
must have the collaborative tools to connect with the diseased persons in a real-time atmosphere
(Rutledge, Haney, Bordelon, Renaud, & Fowler, 2014).
Infection detecting tools; the hospital also implemented this technology in order to reduce
the hospital-acquired infections in the system. It helps the hospital in being compliant with every
regulatory issue related to patient safety. The effective infection control programs similarly
include the effective technology to examine if there is a pathogenic issue in the department
(Randeree, 2009). It can help me a lot as in the emergency departments keeping the patient safe
