Introduction
In a competitive environment, factors like quality management and innovation can result in
competitive advantage. According to a recent survey by the Boston Consulting Group,
innovation is recognized as the top three strategic priorities for around 71% of organizations
(Schniederjans and Schniederjans, 2015). This is because innovation is capable enough to
offer exclusive procedures and products, which generate additional value for the customers
along with financial advantages for the business. Another study recommends that quality
management is an identified driver of innovation in all businesses. Practices of quality
management have been linked with the financial and operational performance permitting
businesses to attain a viable competitive advantage (Kiran, 2016). The aim of this report is to
present the importance of quality management and innovation in an organization to gain a
competitive advantage in the market. The report will discuss the quality management, human
resource management, and customer focus strategies of two businesses that are Integrated
Project Management Inc. and Nestle to evaluate their strength and opportunities in the
market.
Part 1
Integrated Project Management Company, Inc.
Integrated Project Management Company, Inc. is a privately established firm, offering
leadership to convert policies and solutions into viable outcomes. The company is comprised
of 182 employees at seven different locations all over the United States. CEO and President
Richard Panico established IPM in 1988. IPM was established in the market as the first firm
of project management consulting. The company is involved in making proprietary policies
to supplement the practice. The IPM was established in the market as a manufacturing related

projects, but no the business offers its services virtually in all the areas of the business model,
from renovating policy to reality, to scheduling and executing a myriad of practical and

Quality and Culture are considered as the stamps of Integrated Project Management
Company Inc. These interpret to relationships that create trust between workforce, and value
for the consumers of IPM. The IPM family is deeply focused on offering quality services to
the customers in the market because they are helpful, passionate business specialists offer

strategy to fulfill the needs of the company. Effective leadership is dependent on ideas, but
will not be successful unless those ideas are communicated in a proper way to engage all the
employees (Andersen, 2012).

portfolio of Nestle is comprised of baby food, bottled water, dairy products, breakfast cereals,
pet food, ice cream, medicine food, confectionary, snacks, coffee, and tea. Besides this, 29
brands of Nestle possess yearly sales of around CHF 1 billion comprising, Maggie, Nesquik,
Nespresso, Kit Kat, etc. (Nestle, 2019c)
