AUSTRALIAN ENGINEERING 1
Question1.
Answer:
What: Teamwork and team collaboration is an important aspect and skills for the company.
Team collaboration is a major factor of the environment for every company whether it is sports
or engineering industry (Hall, 2018). Working in teams helps employees to be quicker and more
effective in their workplace. I worked in a team in my previous organization. I was working as a
senior consultant. To collaborate in the team, i shared a wealth of knowledge about how to be
effective and work effectively as a team. I myself encouraged collaboration amongst teams and it
allowed team members to work on the same platform. Being a good leader my first step was to
establish collaborations amongst the team is adopting and encouraging the team as well to set a
new mindset to be open and work out loud. Because a spirit of openness and generosity brings
more opportunity for collaboration and connection (Glickman, 2018) as a result employees
learned from each other about many new tasks and got opportunity to learn something new. I
encouraged my team to be brave to attend new task and use a new technique.
So What: However this caused discomfort in the team. Some were not happy to learn new
technology as they had to put extra effort. Although i advised them that they should try new
technique as will help for their future for sure and will improve their work and performance. But
the trust factor was the issue some of them trusted me and some of them just ignored my advice.
What now: I later realized that this will not help to establish collaboration in the team if the team
does not trust each other and on me as well. In addition, to establish better collaboration amongst
team members’ team member has to trust each other also they should have trust on me.
Therefore, I stated getting engaged and involved with the team without being overbearing. I

asked about their opinion and worked with them on same level. This is how i made up the trust in
between the team members.
What else: I explicitly designed individual’s growth goals and considered what creates values. I
had conversation with each member of the team about where they want to grow and how I can
play a role in supporting that growth, and assured sure their goals are not reflecting organizations
goals. I appreciated team to be more transparent and it helped to collaborate effectively. I
encouraged the team to share work in progress and techniques so that other employee can invite
suggestion and correction for their work. Trust is the factor that plays a major role if employees
trust each other than feedbacks would be considered positively (Bond-Barnard, 2018).
Collaboration brought many advantages as it helped to increase team’s morale to work in any
industry. It also helped in building the trust and transparency at the work. However, it also
caused too many disadvantages such as too many people were end up with trying to lead the
group. It took a long time and efforts to build up the trust and motivate employee to take the
backseat and just do what it takes to get the job done, because everyone was from different
background with different understanding. When there is different people group to teach and
collaborate on one team or responsibilities it is possible to arising a conflict of in working style
of the individuals (Silva, 2016).
