Summery and Introduction
Canada has grown to the highest a highest producer of wheat and forms a very large and
important market for both fertilizers and agrochemical consumer across the world (Meilke,
2016). In a research conducted recently, the research projected growth in fertilizer market in
Canada to grow at higher rates from the year 2015 to 2020 (Mussetta, Turbay & Fletcher, 2016).
This has been majorly contributed by the increasing rate of population coursing increase in food
demands. With increase in demand for food production and the shrinking land mass for
agricultural production as a result of urbanization, there has been need for famers to apply
agrochemical in order to maintain soil health and increase productivity (Carvalho, 2017).

technology and Monsanto company Limited have grown into the most competitive and dominant
companies across pacific region. Some of the other big names in the industry include Yara
international ASA, BASF, MakhteshimAgan industries limited, Dow Agrow science, Monsanto,
Syngenta and Summit fertilizers are some of the most renowned agrochemical companies
operating their business in Canada but originate from Australia.

Agrochemical products with the leading market are pesticides followed by markets for
fungicides and insecticide. The market has also been determined based on the application of the

The company has been associated with the manufacturing of phenoxies, which is a class of
protective herbicides that is used in the control and eradication of broadleaved weeds. The
manufacturing networks of this company are diverse, it is found in Canada, Austria and

ranked among largest crop Protection Company in the world because of selling phenoxy
herbicides to professional sprayers who used helicopters thereby earning good reputation through
selling of quality products, specialist seeds and an excellent customer service.
ii. Agrium advanced technology

This is a Canadian multinational pharmaceutical and life company. The company has a
lager base of products ranging from human and veterinary pharmaceuticals, consumer health
care, agricultural chemicals and biotechnology products and high value polymer.
Agrium advanced technology a high powered type of seed with traits, with a proper
manufactured innovative biological and chemical crop together with environmental protective
chemicals. One of the successes of this company is that, they have been innovative; they have a
very strong research and development team which has been a success in production of
environmental friendly products, high yield products and playing a major role in the process of
trying to achieve food security through research and development ("Agrium Announces

iii. Monsanto company
Monsanto was established in 1901 as an American agrochemical and biotechnology
company and operates in Canada also. This company existed until the years 2018 when it
was acquired by Bayer Company. This one of the big four companies that introduced plant
genes in the year 1983 (Sparks & Lorsbach, 2017) and joined some other companies as the
pioneers of the introduction of genetically modified crops in the year 1987. One other
success of this company was that, it was the first company in America to utilize the
biotechnological business model to agriculture, employing the techniques invented by
biotech drug companies. Later the company leaned on its downfall when they engaged in the
controversial manufacturing of insecticides DDT, PCBs, Agent Orange and recombined
bovine growth hormones. The model applied was treated as biopiracy which was treated as a

threat to invade species in the biodiversity. This is when this company became a crop science
division of Bayer Company.
Recommendation
With the objective of meeting food demand in Canada, Canadian famers and the
government should go an extra mile in the determination of, what is proper and suitable in their
daily agricultural activities, which companies offer them proper solution and what they derive
from the services offered by these companies? Therefore, in our research we have reached a
conclusive agreement with the following recommendations.
1. Looking into previous endeavors of these companies, Monsanto has had
controversial activities that questioned the integrity of their products. From the
research, most of the products they produced were environmental friendly and
therefore has the potential of degrading biodiversity hence not recommended for
consumption or for agricultural use.
2. Agrium advanced technology Company is also another one able and consistent
agrochemical company that can be recommended worldwide for chemical
appliance has it has a good technology therefore quality products
3. Given that all the companies are producers of crop based agrochemicals,
reputation, customer service and previous engagement is paramount in making
decision of firm appliance. Agri-fab Inc, has had a good past, with
characteristics such as engagement with international sprayer and achieved
customer satisfaction. Through economic empowerment of domestic companies,
Agri-fab Inc, is a listed company in Canadian stock exchange (Hale, 2017),

hence Canadians should promote their domestic companies as it has both the
quality and reputation of manufacturing environment friendly products. There,
Agri-fab Inc, is recommended to Canadians for agrochemical farm appliance.
