INTRODUCTION Teaching is the activity of providing guidance to people. Teacher has important role to play in providing medical staff with the proper training and knowledge about medical practices. As Lack of skills and information abouthandling medical cases may have adverse effect on patient health and quality of services provided by heath care institution. It is required by teacher to adopt effective teaching method and conduct assessment. As this activity will assisttutorinanalysingthatwhethertheyhavebeensuccessfulinprovidingthe appropriate knowledge to medical staff. Teaching in clinical in clinical environment is considered to be as most difficult and complex activity. In this essay I will explain the assessments methods used by me and justification for the same. Main Body According to my experience, I have identified different that teacher has to perform different roles and responsibilities. I believe that teacher is accountable for behaviour and management of activities conducted by their students or followers. As in the health care industry, the tutor may be responsible for the treatment or medical errors that has occurred due to mistake done by this student. The other roles and responsibilities that I have recognised is that teacher should have knowledge or understanding about the learning capacity as well as capability of their students. I have recognised that , this activity will assist teacher in identifying the learning style that has been adopted by individual for gaining knowledge about the field. As per teaching experience and identification of several issues in clinical environment, I have recognised the three types of assessment tool that can be adopted by tutor for assessing their students. Each form of assessment method has some advantages as well as disadvantages. Among the several assessment tool , Atinitial stage of my teaching career I used to adopt Formative assessment as the method ofjudging the knowledge and Understanding level of my Student. In this technique, I asked various types of questions from learners in order to evaluate that whether I have been successful in sharing right information or not. But I found this is a less effective way of assessing single student. As individual may take much time to answer single
question asked by teacher.In such situation the assessment process can become much time consuming activity. It is the appropriate method that can be utilised for assessing group of people. I believe that technique that can be adopted by tutor for assessing whether their students are absorbing the things that are taught is teacher can provide students an opportunity to make open discussion about the subject (Rowley, Fook and Glazzard, 2018) The another technique to conduct an assessment is providing the several options to member in group and asking them to vote for same. As this strategy will assist them in judging the understanding level and analysing the knowledge gained by their students. I have selected this two methods of assessment considering that these tool may decrease a student's test anxiety that usually comes at the end of a lesson. I believe that , it is required by tutor to be careful when allotting the time for executing formative assessment as this factor may have adverse impact on the learning activities or further process. I have used this method of assessment as it has allowed me to monitor the student progress and provide them with appropriate guidance that will assist learner in making constant improvement in their performance at workplace. I have found this assessment procedure easier as well as more predictable as compared to other technique or tools. I have able to gain critical as well as important information about learners comprehension throughout the procedure. I have got an opportunity to provide quick response to their student and allow them to change their attitude that will help learner in achieving success. Due to this assessment technique I have been able to make suitable and effective decision for my students. As in clinical environment , teaching is difficult and crucial process I believe that this activity required special knowledge and abilities for monitoring and controlling the activities of students. Formative assessment has allowed me to examine my instructional or teaching practices and determining the activities that has supported me in generating effective as well as desired outcome. I have selected Formative assessment, this method has allowed me to increase student motivational level by establishing short and long terms goals. The objective of formative assessment is to assist both teacher and student in gaining academic achievement. I believe that This is the method which aid student in reducing the performance gap and achieving learning goals. By adopting this method I have been able to collected various information about student and able to recognise their needs. I perceive that, This tool can also be used for identifying the quality of learning and evaluating or determining the performance standards. This is the effective methods of assessment, as I think thatIn medical field not only theoretical but also practical experience is very much essential. It is essential for teacher to provide students an opportunity to participate in activity or decision making process in health care institution. As a teacher , I think that it is my duty to ensure that that student work should be less episodic and fractured than lesson-based. I have selected formative and summative assessment tool as by realising that these techniques will allow me to support my student to get both practical experience and theoretical knowledge about the several operations in health care organisation which is necessary to provide satisfaction to service user and performspecific duty in systematic as well as effective manner (Lin, Rattray and Walker-Gleaves,2018) I realised that, teacher is required to recognise the objective of conducting formative assessment as well as monitoring their student progress. The several methods or tools that I have realised that Planning formative assessment , that will help me in getting the information about the student progress towards achievement of career objectives. The other effective tool that I can use to evaluate student growth is checklist, recording observation, learning trackers, establishing short as well as long term objectives. Facilitating continuous interaction and conducting group discussion with students will allow meto identify the various issues or challenges faced by student in gaining knowledge about particular activity or operation (Sweeney and Nielsen, 2018) The other strategies that can be adopted for assessing the understanding level of students are preparing and asking question , conducting test or examination at regular interval, etc. Other technique is providing students an opportunity to work on or participate in particular project is effective method that can be used for Judging the knowledge of students or learners. I believe that communicating clear as well as understandable goals orlearning objectives will assist learner in identifying the way to learn things and gain knowledge. As a teacher I give examples and uses models, pictures graph in order to support my students in learning process. I think that providingI always provide feedback or suggestion to my students. As it allows me to develop and maintain healthy relationship with learner. Utilising my influencing power, I can motivate my students to improve
their performance at workplace. I teach students to self-assess andencourage them to establish their own goals. The other tool that I have used is summative assessment. I perceive that the best and appropriate way track student performance is to ask questions that will encourage students to developinnovativethinkingaboutparticularconceptsandmotivatethemtoconduct investigation that may further assist learner in developing the understanding about work they need to execute within a company. Summative evaluation is another method that can be support teachers incollecting and capturing as well as tracking assessment data. I found the other methods of capturing the assessment data is utilisation of various statistical and mathematical tool that is line graphs support teacher in identifying the student progress. I perceive that technological advancement in present scenario has allowed teacher to increase their potential to capture and store real time student data for long period. As per my experience, this factor has enabled teacher to analyse the data and plan appropriate tactics or develop strategy that could be applied to teaching practices for improving learning activity by students. I have made use of this technology for examining my teaching practices and analysing the impact of same on student. It has provided me to identifying the performance gaps and recognise suitable ways to improve my teaching by making various changes in instruction pattern (Sleeter, 2018) Standard testing is another tool that can be used for capturing as well as tracking assessment data. By adopting this method I have experienced that , it is complex data system but this is affordable as well as easily accessibleto be used by tutors for tracking actual student data. I believe that , standard testing can assist me in differentiating as well as personalising instruction. Formative assessment is effective method that can be beneficial for teacher as well as students. These methods when appliedappropriatelyandsystematicallycanbringdrasticandpositiveimprovementin educational system. It can aid teacher in eliminating the legal obligation that individual may have tofaceduetowrongmedicalpracticesbytheirstudents(Higgins,Mortonand Wolkenhauer,2018) I believe that Feedback is the factor that have formatives nature. As it is not only restricted to an end point process, and is mixed with goal setting, reflection and other evaluation procedures. I have realised by reading or learning behaviourist theory thatreinforcement has both adverse and positive aspects. For instance, I have experienced that when I appreciate my students for their performance they feel motivated and take interest in participating in other
activities too. I think that revision is another method that can help me in identifying the level of understanding among student and providing them with suitable instruction. I have learned about four level of feedback these are task, processing, self and self regulation. In Task feedback, as a teacher,Iprovidestudentsinformationabouttheirlevelofperformancerelatedtoan assessment. Thisactivity supports me ingetting correct or incorrect responses or reaction. I have adopted processing technique for providing feedback to student as it allows me to motivate students to develop their own strategies for recognising their mistakes and planning tactics to improve the same. I perceive that self regulation is the technique that guides learner or student restrict or limit their dependency on the feedback provided by other people. It has allowed me to motivate students forconducting self monitoring procedure. I believe that , it is essential for teacher to provide effective and suitable feedback as this factor has direct effect on performance of student. As this factor will assist student in improving their performance. As per various theories, models, assessment and Evaluation, I believe that I need to develop my focus on recognising the need of students and fulfilling the same. I have adopted differentiation strategy to develop creative learning environment which is difficult to create in clinical environment. As this is the very complex procedure before designing the same I have made various consideration about the effect which the particular strategy will have on student behaviour and performance at workplace. These strategies also have great impact on the task performed, outcome generated by students. The objective of differentiation strategy is to assist learners or student with different learning capacity to gain knowledgeand develop about various practices in health care organisation. It also intends to provide alternative methods of assessment which maximise opportunities for children to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding (Lam, 2018) CONCLUSION It has been concluded from the report that assessment is the very essential procedure that is required to be conducted by teacher at regular interval of time. As this activity will assist tutor in monitoring the student performance and ensuring that they are successful in providing right guidance to students. The project has highlighted the several assessment method among them formative and summative assessment is the effective method. Study has also successfully demonstrated the way teacher in clinical environment cancapture and track assessment data.
