INTRODUCTION
Reflective practices can be defined as an individual ability to reflects on their own actions in
order to engage themselves in continuous learning procedure. Reflection can be defined as paying
attention to practical values as well as theories that informs routine actions (Cleary, 2018). It is
basically a practice of studying own experience for bringing improvement in method of working.
The practice of reflection is considered to be as suitable as well as an effective way of increasing
confidence, becoming more proactive and qualified professionals (Arrastia-Chisholm, Torres and
Tackett, 2018). Reflective practices is closely related to learning from previous experiences. It also
plays significant role in the personal as well as professional development of an individual.
Reflecting own performance on routine basis is regarded as the attribute of high performance
people (Hamilton, 2018). Reflective practices is beneficial as it helps in generating self awareness.
It also helps an individual in developing the critical thinking. Reflection is basically utilised for
improving understanding about the module. It is also can be used as evidence for practice based
learning (Frodesen and Wald, 2018).
In context of present study purpose of reflective practice is to analyse own strength as well
as weakness. In addition to this other objective is to develop abilities as well as core competencies
self-directed learning. The Gibbs reflective model have been chosen for wring the reflection. The
reason for selecting the Gibbs model for reflection is that it enables practitioners to make sense of
experiences and examine their practice (Brakke, Guillory and Patterson, 2019). It also helps
practitioner in thinking systematically about the different phases of experience (Hensley, Wolters
and Brady, 2018). Gibbs model for reflection enables practitioner to look beneath the surface of
events and experiences to achieve deeper levels of understanding and learning (Moon, 2018). The
report will include description about an individual experience during module learning. It will
highlight the few actions which a person will take in order to enhance their learning process in the
future.

developed the understanding about significance of working in a team. On fifth November, I
attended the lecture on the way to deliver an effective group presentation. During the third lecture
we were asked to select topic for group presentation. At that time I made my significant
contribution in choosing the topic and making the presentation good. I used my research skills for
helping my team member in selecting the topic. I have suggested them to choose issue which are
currently the topic on which the various debates are taking place. I and my team members has
chosen topic through mutual consent. After choosing the topic I and my team member have group
discussion on the same. The lecture was schedule on 12 November, during that session I and my
team member has submitted the presentation and our teacher has given us feedback according to
which we have to do modification. On 19th and 20 Th November , we have sessions on reading. On
third Nov. I have attended lecture on use of appropriate sources during writing. On 31 Dec. The
lecture was on topic reflective writing. After the completion of the last chapter we were asked to
write reflective essay on our experience during module.
Feelings:During first session of the module I felt little excited to learn new things. I also felt eager
to know about the topic which will be covered in the module. I was also little nervous as I face
difficulty in grabbing the learning quickly. When I came to know about the topic which will be
covered in the topic I found all the topic familiar but I thought that these are very easy topic and
there is nothing to learn. But during the time of first chapter of module only I have realised that
there are many things which can be learned. I realised the importance of first chapter of the module.
I also think that I can use the management techniques which has been taught in first module for
managing myself and work. When on 29th October, I and my colleagues were asked to work in a
team I felt little nervous about my performance during the task. I face difficulty in expressing my
views on the topic. I soon realised that I faced specific difficulty due to lack of effective
communication. I also felt nervous when giving the presentation and felt little anxious to know
about the teacher feedback on the same. But I was confident that the topic which I have selected for
the group presentation is good. After completion of the module I felt that lectures on following
topics such as time management, writing process, report is very much useful. I also perceived that
lecture on report writing, reading, time management etc. will help me in improving my academic
performance. Among all the session I found group activity to be interesting. As I have developed I
have developed lot many skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, communication skills by
participating in group activities. I felt very much happy when my teacher has appreciated us for
making presentation.
Evaluations: Before starting the module I executed the reflective practice at that time I evaluated
that I lack presentation, writing, management skills. I have also evaluated that I have good research

skills. But After completion of the module, I have taken initiative to apply the learning into practice.
During the time of performing in a group I was acting as a leader but I found that I lack time
management skills which has lead to the delay in presentation. I also evaluated that after completion
of the module I have developed various skills such as writing, presentation, skills. After the
completion of the lecture on reflection I found that the technique which I have used earlier for
executing the reflective practices were not appropriate. I have realised that I can improve my
reflective practices by applying the techniques which I have learned during the time of module. I
have applied all the techniques for making the group presentation. I evaluated that all the techniques
which I have been evaluated have proven to be helpful in making the presentation good. I have also
found that the strategies which were taught during the module has helped me in improving my
writing skills. I have When participating in group activities an individual can also learn many things
by working in a team.
Analysis : During the time of group discussion on the topic chosen for the topic I have analysed that
all the group members were arguing and not giving the other chance to speak. At that time I also
analysed that I felt little irritated as I did not get the chance to share my view, this factor has lead to
the demotivation in me and it also has negative effect on my performance in group activities. I have
also analysed that my colleagues have good reading skills and they are highly efficient in
summarising the academic articles. By attending the lectures, I have analysed the importance of
time management. After the completion of the module, I have analysed that I have developed the
problem solving skills. During the time of group activities, I have analysed that all the team
members were putting their all efforts by applying their skills in order to accomplish group goals.
During the group presentation, I have also observed that my few team members has issue related to
the working pattern and there has been difference between the group member opinion which has
resulted in conflicts. At that time, being a group leader I felt very much stressed and pressurised as
the date of completion of presentation was close and I knew that such disputes can have effect on
the overall group performance. But with the help of strategic skills I have been successful in dealing
with such complex as well as critical situation in effective manner. But still there was delay in
submitting the presentation the reason which perceive for the same is lack of time management
skills. This shows that I have failed to apply the time management strategies which we have been
taught during the first chapter of the module. I have soon realised that note making strategy would
have assisted me in managing the complete project in systematic manner. I have also analysed the
issues which an individual might face by working in a group. I have also identified the way small
issues between team members can effect performance of group.

systematic manner. I have learned about the techniques which can be utilised for making
comparison between different approaches. After, completion of the module I realised the important
of reflective practices. I came to know about the different models such Gibbs, Kolbs, John
reflection model etc. I think that by using such hypothesis I can improve my reflective writing
practices. During my module learning I have developed the understanding about value of reflection.
In addition to this, I gained knowledge about an effective utilisation of reflective tools. I came to
know about the different strategies which I can use for improving my performance during group
activities. I have learned about the techniques which I can utilise in order to get the most out of
group work.
After analysing my experience during the module learning through reflective practice I have
found that there are several areas where I need to make improvement. I have taken feedback from
my tour and came to know that I need to develop the note making habit, as this will assist me in
retaining learning for long time. I have decided that I will keep notebook and Pen every and note
each point during the module learning. I also think that I need to increase my reading speed for
which I will do practice regularly. I will read newspapers, books regularly. After conducting the
reflective practice I found that I face difficulty in public speaking and I need to improve the same as
I consider this as my biggest weakness. I will seek support from my friends, family members etc.
for improving my public speaking and I have planned to attend the personal development classes.
After conducting the reflective practice that I need to be more participative in group discussion for
which I perceive that I need to increase my knowledge and improve my communication skill. I
