1. Contribution to Topic Selection
The accuracy of any research project largely depends on the effectiveness of topic
selection. Topic selection was the first step and deliverable of the research study undertaken. Our
team had decided to investigate on the field of organization culture and innovation management.
I had suggested the topic “Identification of the relationship and common aspects organization
culture and innovation management” after a preliminary background research. Our topic was
approved and I have undertaken another background research to identify the problem definition
on which the entire research is focused. Our team had planned to structure the project in such a
way that the main focus of the research was laid on determining the factors of innovation
management which affects the organization culture. The responsibility of topic identification and
problem definition was allocated to me.
The research questions were identified on basis of the problem definition and key aim of
the research. Since I was in charge of identification of the problem definition, I had taken the
responsibility of constructing the research questions. After identification of the research
question, I had documented the topic approval report that was submitted on 20 December 2019.
The topic approval report provided a justification of the selection topic, brief literature search,
the statement of research problem and the research questions. It further documented the process
in which data for the research will be collected and analyzed. The submission for topic approval
followed the development of team charter where the team roles are allocated to each of the team
members.
This phase of research initiation was quite challenging for me as I had to find out and
choose an effective research topic to work on further assignments. I had a good learning

experience and my lecturer had provided needed guidance in topic selection and in developing
the research questions. I have further learnt about the need and importance of a detailed
background study in identification of the research objectives and in constructing the research
questions.
2. Contribution to Literature Review
While working on the assignments and performing the research, I have gained a detailed
knowledge about the need and importance of literature review in developing a research project. I
had a maximum contribution to the literature review process. After submission of the topic
approval literature, the literature review for the undertaken research was due in next 30 days. The
literature review is important part of a research study as it forms a valid source of the needed
secondary data in a research.
The search process that I had opted for the literature review was to search for related
journals and books related to a particular topic. Prior to that I had finalized the sections that
would be discussing in the literature review section. After shortlisting the research journals that I
would be using in the literature review, I had thoroughly studied each of the research papers to
identify the key points to be incorporated in the literature review. On basis of the shortlisted
points, I had started writing the literature reviews by consulting further sources. My learning
experience throughout this course was quite rich as my lecturer provided the necessary guidance
in regards to writing and structuring the literature review. I had submitted the completed
literature review within the due date. While working on the literature review, I had gained a
detailed understanding of the process of identification of a related literature and analyzing the
content of that literature. My lecturer had guided me in synthesizing the chosen research papers

prior to the review which had helped me in delivered a work as per requirement. In the literature
review that I had submitted, I had provided a comprehensive discussion on the different theories,
models related to employee management, employee behavior and innovation management.
3. Contribution to Research Methodology Report
After submission of the literature review, the assignment deliverable included preparation
of a report on research design and methodology opted for the research. Correct identification of
the research methods was needed to address the research problem and find solution to the
research problem.
This part was challenging as I found it difficult to choose an appropriate method to
conduct the research further. I had researched about the onion framework to incorporate the same
in the research report. Prior to choosing the research method, I had arrange a group discussion
session to identify the sampling methods and techniques. After the discussion session, it was
decided that a qualitative design will be adopted for completing the research. I had decided to
make use of only secondary data for the research. The review of literature was opted to be one of
the effective data source for collection of secondary data.
In this particular assignment I failed to perform well. The marks that I have obtained
from this assignment was not satisfactory. I could see that there are a lot of areas of
improvement. As per the feedback of my lecturer, the methodology part needs improvement
along with the research design section, that needs improvement as well. I faced difficulties in
identifying the correct methods for this particular study.

I underperformed in this assignment and while grading, my lecturer provided me with a
detailed feedback of the areas where I need to improve and it was indeed a good learning
experience for me.
4. Reflection on Research Experience
The research experience was quite effective for me as it got to learn a lot from the three
assignments I have submitted. I have played an integral role and contributed to my 100 percent
in this research study. While working on the literature review, I had faced certain issues in
accessing the paid journals. However, that was a minor issues and was mitigated at once. The
university library helped me in getting access to majority of the research papers.
The key challenge that I experienced in this project was to develop a suitable team and
make them work as a team. The difference in opinion resulted in frequent team conflicts that
affected the final output. The struggle that I have faced is mainly related to identification of a
correct method for the research project. A lot of improvement is needed and I am currently
working on the same. Individually, I faced the challenge of not understanding the correct process
of data analysis for the research. I need to work hard to understand the different tools of data
collection and analysis of the data. The team work further needed improvement in terms of
communication. I need to work on all these issues to improve my performance in the subsequent
assignments.
5. Sections I contributed to and Lesson Learned
In this research project, I have performed the extensive literature search and written the
detailed literature review. I have contributed in identification of the problem statement and

research questions. I have written the research onion section and contributed in identification of
the research methods.
I have learned about the importance, need and accurate process of literature review and
have gained knowledge about the importance of literature review in collection of secondary data
and its contribution in research success. The challenges that I have faced will help me to improve
in my academic career and will further help me in shaping my professional career.
