MAIN BODY
ReflectionThe most fundamental skill: Intentional learning and the career advantage
In the article of Lisa Christensen, Jake Gittleson, and Matt Smith, I got to know important
knowledge and information which not only enhances my knowledge but also provides me
directions for career opportunity. There is a discussion of intentional learning and the career
advantage. I identified that learning is a skill itself. Learning is the skill which assists in boosting
personal and professional lives. It is really helpful in delivering a competitive edge (
The most
fundamental skill: Intentional learning and the career advantage, 2020). I analysed that there is
no demand of learning and development in former times. But it is found in today's time period
that both organisation as well as individuals are investing in learning and development. In
business management, I found that intentional learning is becoming very important as it assists in
achieving goals and objectives of an organisation. In my course work, I found that learning and
development is required at every stage. It can be become possible for an organisation when every
person unlocking their intentionality. That means people are ready for learning. In generally, I
found that every person learns new skills and knowledge for the purpose of outcome but
intentional learning is different.
Intentional learning is emphasising on consciousness of learning (Bereiter and
Scardamalia, 2018). The intrinsic motivation in organisation for employees are the outcome but
it is necessary that people have intrinsic motivation which is learning itself. I also found that
there are two important mindsets are necessary in the process of fostering learning such as adopt
a growth mindset and feed curiosity. These two mindsets are necessary in order to do intentional
learning. In addition to this, I also identified five core skills which are necessary for intentional
learners. Five important skills are set small and clear goals, remove distractions, actively seek

actionable feedback, practice deliberately, and practising regular reflection. It is necessary for an
organisation that they should try to improve their learning and development practices as it assist
in achieving goals and objectives in an effective way. Intentional learning is providing many
benefits to the individual as they raise the quality of personal and professional life. They are able
to enjoy benefits of intentional learning. I found that I can gain competitive edge and also career
advantage. I analysed that it is very helpful in career enhancement. That's why I start to focus on
this skill as it also assists in developing skills for business development.
CONCLUSION
From the above reflection, it is concluded that business development needs intentional
learning as every person is able to enhance their performance. The goals of organisation becomes
not a duty but it becomes a self satisfaction in individual with the assistance of international
learning.
