Reflective Writing on Business Strategy Game
During this course, we got an opportunity to learn about many concepts. Business
Strategy Game (BSG) is one of the most insightful, informative educative, but challenging
concepts that we learnt. Business is a challenging undertaking that requires lots of keenness.
Marketing is one of the most important activities that determine the success of a business. If the
quality and pricing policy of the product are appealing, but no effective marketing takes place, it
might not succeed in accomplishing its objectives. In this regard, it should be upon every
investor to adopt the most brilliant marketing strategies on which it can rely to promote the
commodity.
In our group, the three of us-myself, Angela, and Shengsi, came together to form a BSG.
In our BSG, we came up with an idea of starting a small enterprise to be managed by the three of
us. After coming together, we agreed to delegate duties so as to manage the operations of the
enterprise as planned. Apart from this, we came up with a strategy of seeking for credit facilities
from the lenders. He loans that we acquired was used to purchase additional assets that we
owned as a company. The other strategy that we adopted was to manufacture high quality
products that we were supplying to our clients. Lastly, we chose to sell our products at relatively
lower prices because, in our opinion, it would enable us to enjoy a competitive in the market.
Unfortunately, all these strategies would later not yield fruits because we eventually failed. All
these are attributed to the ineffectiveness of the team as well as the strategies that seem to have
had nothing better to offer.
In this reflection, I would like to point out that we made a good trial. Our group strategy
plan was well-thought. At the beginning, we had brilliant strategies. The establishment of the

enterprise was a god idea that should be commended. Once we agreed to work as a team, we
decided to sit down and draw a plan on how we would manage the enterprise. The first strategy
that we settled on was to uplift the face of the business. This was done by sourcing from credit
facilities from the lenders to enable us purchase new machineries to use in the production
process. In my opinion, this was a good strategy because it would help in the marketing of the
business. The acquisition of the new assets would market the business because it would improve
its reputation and make it appeal to a large section of the clientele. As a team, we had to do this
because we believe in improvement and change.
The other strategy that I would like to address in this reflection is the adoption of new
pricing and production strategies. After acquiring new assets for the enterprise, we decided to
come up with two new strategies. The first strategy that we adopted is about the pricing. Here,
we chose to set cheap prices for our products because we had thought that it would enable the
business to attract many clients. Many people prefer to purchase products which are sold at
cheaper prices. So, this is exactly what we were trying to do. Apart from this, we decided to
adopt a new strategy focused on the production of low quality products. We thought that this
strategy would also help us to market our products. The three of us had agreed that the lowering
of the quality of the product would be a good idea that would also help in the marketing of the
products. Every business venture should have some strategies on which it can rely to position
itself and be in a position of claiming a substantial share of the market.
However, despite having all these strategies, I am sorry to recount that the whole effort
would eventually be a total a failure. The resources, energy, and time we had dedicated to the
business never yielded much fruit because, at the end of it all, we had nothing to show for it
since it failed to achieve its objectives. Although we had god intentions of starting a sustainable

and profitable venture, our failure demonstrates that the BSG that we had chosen was not a
viable one. Otherwise, we would have succeeded in growing and expanding the business so as to
make it profitable and sustainable all through. So, as a team, we have to accept the challenge and
use it to improve for the better.
