Abstract
The underlying objective of the report is to have the reflection of own career as well as constant
development in the professional career for upcoming 10 years. The speech is on concepts of CPD
as well as instrument is mainly conferred and the models of personnel reflection that are
demonstrated. The study consist of past career within educational activity as well as work and
the reflection on future aspirations. The report mainly analyses ICE membership routes as well
as offers professional development plan of 10 years that how will I got the Chartered Engineer
(Ceng) status from the ICE. The ethics in engineering is also most essential within professional
career development. The document provides a summary of the ethical values as well as
interaction among ethical values and law.

Chapter 1- Introduction
Personnel reflection as well as constant professional career development
Reflection on personnel is basically the mode through which the individual respond to
experience or the event which could be gaining of the fresh information. It is the procedure
where gaining or learning the experience occurs thus cannot be addressed as right and wrong.

Personal reflection have an extreme importance while analysing ourselves or the others
and tells how to react in a situation. On the other hand, it also provides in-depth understanding of
who we are as single person and analyse their actions as well as give vision as what have to be
achieved in overall result. It also looks into strength as well as weaknesses (Smart, 2016).
CPD was establishes in year 1986 by construction industry council in UK & utilized in
some professional bodies within UK. “The systematic management, improvement long with
broadening the base of development and knowledge of the personal qualities and skills which are
required for executing technical responsibilities and duties across working life.”
The rule 5 in ICE's rule of the professional career states:
“All members should have professional competence and knowledge together with skill on
continuing basis thus shall provide reasonable assistance for educating and training others.”

Within the heart and minds of appropriate Continuing Professional Development practice
rests truth which addresses that investing in own growth and learning is important and thus is
valuable for taking time to bring est out of it.
Continuing Professional Development cycle
Main principle of Continuing Professional Development is very broad as well as tangled.
Various models have been designed to measure this in organization. Currently the most
preferable process for measuring is cyclic process from ICE (Rankin, 2018).

Education
Knowledge in the civil engineering generally began years ago Government college of the
technology in Rasul Pakistan for the certification in subordinate engineering within civil
technology that was configured previous 3 years (Gray and Warman, 2018). I have gone through
numerous subjects in the civil engineering that can be

I initiated my work experience in filed of the construction within reputable organization
after accomplishment of the associate engineering. The project which I started_______the first

Chapter 3 The forthcoming development
Career aspiration
The career aspiration encouraged and motivated me through with the skills of university
as well as knowledge involving my working experience as the civil engineering. I was dedicated,
determined and inspired to gain more knowledge from those the above for helping myself in
achieving goals which I set for reaching expert level (Davis, 2019).
Civil engineer for progressing foster, generally there are two of the registration class:
First is the integrated engineer (Ieng) and second one is chartered Engineer (Ceng).
For integrated engineers, which mainly consider technical as well as commercial
management and thus holds the various personal skills. Basically tends for managing the
applications of the present as well as processing technology. They participate in the engineering,
development, construction involving operations (Brindley, 2018).
Chartered engineers are predominately identified by the capabilities via creative mind
along with innovation for designing solutions to the engineering problems by utilizing either
advanced or the outdated technologies for enhancing designing methods. They may introduce
more effective production technologies together with marketing because they involve in
commercial leadership.

My main career aspiration is to obtain knowledge and ensure that IPD and CPR is
completed for becoming charter engineer through working with reputable organization. In the
organization, I can basically explore my skills and abilities to provide advantage to company as
well as environment. The appendix of “A” and “B” mainly render membership path towards
Chartered Engineer. Mission in my life is to accomplish objectives by becoming Civil
engineering in upcoming 10 years. Besides this, I also has the purpose to work in collaboration
with multinational company as project manager.
Assessment of the reflection model
GIBBS model
Gibbs reflective cycle is basically the way for presenting condition in understandable
manner together with assessing experience as well as analysing the feeling for clarifying
experience as well as recognizing any another option which was taken for examining when
particular situation occurs (François, 2017).

SWOT analysis
This is the another way for guiding the individual to recognize positive as well as
negatives within them inside and outside the organization (Brindley, 2016). The main rationale
behind conducting this analysis is that through this it can be useful in pointing out some valuable
points. Like for example it provides possibility and chances for looking into the solution to
problems, making the wisest choices and also recognizing any of the opportunities or the threats
for making successful future. It also helps in looking into various opportunities which can
eventually open new and different gates to the career. This analysis mainly takes into account the

different tactics which involves better management outlining essential and vital internal as well
as external elements like strengths, weakness, threats etc. The SWOT analysis mostly brings out
the major principles of strategic management. For having the reflection and in-sight of my
career, I utilized SWOT analysis which I have used as reflection model.

Reflection from the past-
Lot of the new things and knowledge are being gained by me during my past work
experience and study. From my experience I had learned awareness that how future education is
important for me in achieving knowledge and skills of civil engineering field. The confidence
needed is off site and on site. In the figure 5 SWOT analysis for my career future development is
illustrated which is helpful for me in identifying my strength, weakness, opportunities and threats
related to my future development and education. My weakness can be overcome by studying
with new software which are available in market, time management skills can also be improved
and by reading the academic journal and papers and books writing skills can be improved and
helpful in converting my strength into weaknesses (Weller, 2019).
My current education and experience has helped me in highlighting my major strengths
where different skills can be demonstrated by me. In my previous study of the civil engineering
English language is not involved in it, whereas I was studying in University.......writing skills of
mine in English can be improved and technical terms can also be learned by me. Work
placement is helpful for me in developing lot of skills which has enhances self-confidence as it is
important part of life which renders the opportunities for examining, exploring and
experimenting it for the future development of myself by which I can develop career in
construction industry. I had also developed an ability that bi could work under pressure which
enables me for qualifying for high ranked institutes. I can develop my skills for new level along
with engineers software's skills were I lacked at. I sometimes also lacks behind due to emotions
as I am very emotional person ans I need to overcome it (Coward, 2018). My dream and
destinations is to become Civil Engineering and to accomplish it I need to overcome such weak
points of mine so that I could reach to my aim. Sometimes I become over confidence which is
the weakest point of mine in the construction industry in this industry I need to be calm, warm
and full of patience so that I could tackle the situations and complete the tasks properly. More
over confidence in me somehow lacks me and can bounds me to perform the task well.
Availability of time can also be the hurdle in my growth and reaching to may goal and aim of life
as it can create a delay for me. Due to the present economic condition there is downfall in the
construction industry which is the major threat for me and my career. As I need to develop my
career in this field but due to economic slow down there is no growth in this industry as there is
down fall in economy nobody needs to invest in construction. So it is the situation where I

couldn't decide whether it would be good in the future or not. It is the risky situation for my
career.

Action Plan for the 10 years-
My goals and objectives for next 10 years of my career for holding a position as a Civil
Engineer and this can be done by getting my another degree in the BSc. Hons Degree. After that
I need to become the graduate member of the ICE and then at the further level I need to capture
the master's level. For getting into my professional career need to be motivated towards my field
and thus further developed professional skills (IPD). I also need to develop engineering skills
along with the commercial and management skills and thus further successfully completed
chartered professional review (CPR) for becoming the civil engineering. Figure 6 it explains the
direct route to my educational base towards my aim that is civil engineering which is carried
forward and described in appendix “C” renders detailed attribute of the member Charted Civil
Engineer (Goldie, 2017).
For minimizing weaknesses and threats for becoming a Civil Engineering, I had
developed the development plan which is shown below which had provided step by step
guidelines for becoming Civil Engineering. For becoming the successful Civil engineer I need lot
of efforts and potentials and must ensure that I am fit for upcoming task. There are certain skills
which I need to improve so that I could successfully meet my goal and objective of my life. That
is time management skills which can be improved by placing myself in the situation where the
time is the most essential part and further my major aim in the task will be completing my task
before time or on the given deadline so that I could manage the time in every task further. I could

also enhance my knowledge as more knowledge it requires less time for me to complete the task
and time couldn't be consumed in the timeless researches. I also need to improve my engineering
skills so that I could improve by the knowledge which is gained by me in the lectures from part-
time institutes where I could learn from skilled tutors and practising in my time sob that skills
can be improved. For accomplishing my dream of becoming Civil engineer I need to acquire the
graduate membership with ICE which is helpful for me in gaining and attaining the objective of
mine and developing various skills in me for my further and future development. It can be done
by putting efforts in attending my professional lectures and classes at institutes and gaining
advices from my skilled tutors so that they can set a path for my further career growth and
development. I can also gain knowledge from my senior Engineers also and learn from their
experience of working and further can establish my career plan according to that so that I could
get success in my career further. I can further create the path according to that so that I can easily
achieve my goal and objective if my life to become a Civil engineer (Bogg and Challis, 2016).
By developing the various skills also I could attain the career success which is very important for
me. I could gain a self confidence by developing the skills and could carry further with the
positive attitude and work further towards my goals and objective. At last the thing which is
necessarily required by me is having patience for attaining my goals as there can be failure also
but I had to learn with that and having a positive attitude for attaining my goal and objective and
becoming the civil engineer.

Engineering Ethics
Representing the engineer of future, I mainly have great responsibility with regards to
sustainable future, clients as well as employees. There are mainly numerous reasons which
shows that why & how engineering ethics are essential and vital as engineer for me (Coward,
2019). Some of the examples have been given below:
Responsibility and looking after for the employees along with entire society and clients
Competence
Responsibility towards health and safety
Corruption
Integrity
Ethical values mainly are related and associated to various government responsibilities which is
shown in the below figure. UK government has made laws as well as regulations like
employment law, code of ethics, federal law and ensure that the regulations are enforced in the
company and overall organizations as per the law. Through utilizing these guidelines,
organizations as well as individuals can overcome and prevent the different ethical breaches.

Chapter 4- Conclusion
The major aim of report is to have the reflection of personal career as well as CPD for
upcoming 10 years. In this report, meaning along with importance of the reflection as well as
continuous professional development is discussed and studied.
In the year 1986, construction industry in UK established CDP and currently more than half of
the professional bodies are utilizing this method in career development. Technical report majorly
explains utilization and importance of cycle of CPD for recognizing professional development

area as well as help to built the career development plan. Within the development plan, goals and
objectives are set fro the ten years as well as explained process and method of achieving targets
within given time period.
The major rationale behind the report is to have deep in-sight in past experience as well
as carry out the SWOT analysis for identifying developed areas and the future aspiration for
becoming the chartered engineer. In view of the chartered engineer, membership routes are
discussed and studied. Along with this, the proper routes for the CEng together with personnel as
well as Govt. responsibilities upon ethical values are examined within this document.
