Over view of Human Services sector
It can be said that to work in the human service sector relates with offering assistance
to the society in relation to all the demographics, background and ages in the different crisis
In this paper, the emphasis will be given on the mission of the practitioners and also on their
perceptive related to welfare. The emphasis will also be on the use of their knowledge
according to the different cases in terms of poverty and the best question can also be
considered that will help to evaluate the requirement of the specific groups. Poverty is
considered as one of the essential aspect on which focus should be given to reduce it so that it
could be easy for the individuals to maintain the living standards (Lewis, 2017). In the paper,
the focus will be on the human service work and their perspective in relation to welfare. The
next phase of the paper will discuss about the importance that should be given on education
system of the youth. So, the paper will highlight other aspects such as poverty and Aboriginal
population.
Week2: Choice A: As a human services worker, what is your perspective
on welfare?
As a Human Service Worker, I hold professional job in different
settings like homes, houses, correctional centres, community health
service centres, child, youth and family service agencies etc. It is a very
challenging job role and it requires diverse factors in human behaviour. To
me, welfare is something related to the happiness and the well-being of
people (Taylor, 2015). As a human service worker, I am in charge of
human being’s welfare, ensuring that they are well-fed and healthy. For

this purpose to be achieved, these human beings, who cannot support
themselves, should be provided with financial support and this is called
Welfare. However, goals of every welfare varies because it looks towards
promoting the work pursuance, education and in most of the cases, a
better living standard as well (Greve, 2018). The human beings who are in
need of welfares are the ones who are poor, developmentally challenges
or the disadvantaged group of a nation. They are also the ones whose
level of income are below the FBL (Federal Poverty Level) or BPL (Below
Poverty Line).People or individual who is on welfare are supported by the
government agencies or human service centres with free or highly
discounted services and goods to live their daily life. It can be done
through providing them with Medicare, food vouchers or even housing
assistance. However, welfare is something that is usually aimed towards
developing and supporting individual with very little to no income, the
disabled and the elderly.
Week3: Choice A: While watching think about the structural factors and
ecological theory. How might you as a human services practitioner help
these families?
As the suburbs of Australia comprises socio-economically deprived
children It is imperative in considering scale for identification of places
with a concentration of families who are socio-economically
disadvantaged to be aware of threats of ecological fallacy (Maru et al.,
2014). Such a fallacy indicates that every family living in a disadvantaged

place does not tend to have attributes related to socio-economic
disadvantage (Ferguson, 2012). There can be identified statistical
evidence that children who grow up in families living in the suburbs rely
on the welfare support of human service intervention. Furthermore,
severe lack of educational equity is identified as critical challenge for
these children.
Human Services agencies must offer services to sustain
welfare and nurturing of children to enable them to manage life’s
transitions further ensuring protection of children to build stronger and
resilient communities. At this juncture, social learning theories can
facilitate and promote strong, enduring concept which will help in the
emergence of new theories, competencies and sustainability from beyond
the education organisation in order to attain the best results for socio-
economically disadvantaged children (Maru et al., 2014). Pearce et al.
(2015) have noted that social learning theory will rise new behaviour
which will continue if it is strengthened in a more successful manner to
community agencies and resources and offer opportunities ahead of usual
school hours. These programs will provide substantial support to
disadvantaged families of several Australian suburbs by means of family
friendly facilities and initiatives in order to support parents of children like
Jada, Jacob and Connor to improve the structural condition of these
suburbs.
