Project Management Plan for Renovation of Royale Pizza Shop

This report discusses the implementation plan, tools and techniques for monitoring and control process, project performance evaluation and project closure groups of project management in context to the Renovation project of Royale Pizza. The report also includes the management structure, management style and culture, levels and boundaries of authority & autonomy and attributes & characteristics of project stakeholders, monitoring and control process, project performance evaluation, and project closure steps/tools required to close the project (post-project activities).

REPORT OVERVIEW
This report going to discuss implementation plan, tools and techniques for monitoring and
control process, project performance evaluation and project closure groups of project
management in a detailed manner in context to the Renovation project of Royale Pizza.
IMPLEMENTATION PLAN
Conditions required for successful project implementation
 The support of shop owner/senior management has required for successful project
implementation.
 Proper implementation planning
 Judicious equipment procurement
 Timely availability of funds
 Effective project evaluation and monitoring should be performed by the Project Manager
throughout the project life cycle.
 The project team members should be skilled and capable to complete shop renovation within
the estimated budget and time otherwise; the contractor will have to pay AU$300 to the shop
owner as a daily penalty.
 The safety inspection would be performed every fortnight and it will take at least four hours.
So, the inspection time and cost should be included in the implementation plan.
 The project should be completed in 4 months with AU$ 14,000 budgets.

Management Style and culture
Autocratic management style and culture have been used for this renovation project because tasks
and objectives are set and the project team is expected to do exactly as needed. In this type of
management style, all project team members will be dependent on the supervision of Project
Manager. The benefit of this style is that it will allow the Project Manager to maintain organizational
consistency. The main drawback of this approach is that the success of the project depends on the
efficiency of a leader (Project Manager). Moreover, if the Project Manager will make the wrong
decisions, then it might result in satisfaction among project team members1.

MONITORING AND CONTROL PROCESS
Monitoring and control processes will be required to review, track and orchestrate the
performance and progress of Royale Pizza’s renovation project. Below listed tools and
techniques will be used by the Project Manager to assess project performance and identify
any area in which modifications are required. Project scope, project work, schedule, quality,
cost, communication, stakeholder engagement, and risks will be monitored and controlled4.

PROJECT PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
The technique for project performance evaluation
Performance reviews
The Project Manager should ask all project stakeholders to evaluate his/her performance in
context to Royale Pizza’s renovation project. They should consistently and fairly focus
criticism on specific behavior during performance evaluation. The performance review is an
effective technique which provides a periodic and systematic process to assess efficiency,
productivity, and effectiveness of project stakeholders in relation to pre-established
organizational objectives and project success criteria. The performance of the project can be
measured and evaluated based on time, cost and product quality11.
Strengths
Variance in project performance can be detected at an early stage by the project manager
through performance review technique which will help to achieve project quality in an
effective way.
Weaknesses
 One-sided feedback
 The outcome of performance evaluation can be biased.
List of specific actions required to ensure the quality of the project
Planning – In this phase, the long and short term of all project stakeholders will be defined
properly for setting project evaluation criteria. For example

project to overcome issues of budget and schedule overruns. Status reports will be created
by the manager when meeting with team members to ensure whether they are on the right
track or not13.
Completion – The data captured in the above two activities will be analyzed for
identifying existing problems which could affect the overall quality of the Royale Pizza’s
renovation project.
Reporting and disseminating – After successful completion of project performance
evaluation, the project manager will create a project results report and deliver it to all
project stakeholders like Technical Manager, Contractors, Installers, etc.14
PROJECT CLOSURE
Steps/tools required to close the project (post-project activities)
In Project Monitor will this phase, the close the renovation of Royale shop project when all
project objectives will be met by the project team. Key activities of the project closing phase
are listed below:
1. Acceptance of deliverables – The owner of Royale Pizza will review the renovated
shop and examine whether his all project requirements are fulfilled or not as per the
agreement.
2. Finalize the lesson learned – Before the project team members will be assigned to
another project or relieved from this renovation project, it is important for Project
Manager to circulate questionnaire among all stakeholders. The main purpose of
questionnaire distribution is to obtain unbiased views from project stakeholders
regarding critical success factors which have achieved and critical issues faced by
them during the project life cycle. All aspects of renovation project should be
included in the lessons learned such as internal and external communications,
monitoring of project, acceptance criteria of project deliverables, implementation of
project schedule and involvement of users15.
The retrospective technique will be used for lesson learned process.

Steps of retrospective technique:
1. Independent facilitator should be hired to guide project stakeholders.
2. Make announcement of exercise so that all project stakeholders should be
involved.
3. Discuss details of exercise
4. Try to focus on tactical implementation and dictions made during project life
cycle.
5. Discuss lessons learned in positively as it will promote best practices of
project management.
6. Ask questions and receive feedback
7. Documentation of outcome of lessons learned exercise.
