INTRODUCTION
Academic skills are related to habits that provide benefits to the academic movement
which includes research, report writing, learning as well as presentations. This report will
elaborate the aspects of personal and professional development with short, long and medium
term goals. Moreover, the study will also discuss over affects of using sources along with
creating a report plan.
TASK 1
Concept of personal development plan
PDP is likely to an action plan which is based on goal setting, reflecting, values and
planning related to personal growth in terms of career, relationship, education and self
improvements. Its primary aim is to maximize the individuals' capability to perform individuals
role as well as responsibility. In personal; development plan, strategies, tactics and proper
planning exists to grant proper strategic direction in context to individual development
prospects. The whole concept of PDP is segregated into different stages includes clearing out the
vision at initial level, outline weaknesses, strengths, threats and opportunities that are associated
with personality. All four areas will provide the best level of individual development under
personal development campaign.
Personal and professional development
Personal development refers to actions that are designed in a manner to improve
potential, employability, talents and wealth of individuals. While professional development
illustrate the concepts to continued learning as well as career preparation after a person have
entered the workplace to assist them and develop advanced skills along with staying updated to
advance their career opportunities.
Value of short term goals
Short term goals are the ones who can be achieved within a year or even in less duration
of time. It has been set behind the personal development planning which plays a major role in
deciding operations and strategies in order to achieve the best level of personal growth under the
plan. For example:

 To work on my academic skills so that I can grasp information in rapid ways in the
classroom sessions.
 To increase my grades by devoting more time and efforts to study.
 To learn new things that contribute in improving my knowledge, capabilities and skills.
Value of medium term goals
This also creates a huge value among individuals life under PDP that has been conduct at
individual level. They are the goals that has been set to expand results addressed through short
term goals and objectives. This provides great emphasis over skill development and personality
improvements. Skill development is able to provide strategic advantage to meet dissimilar
objectives. For instance:
 To get part-time employment in reputed company in order to increase my existing
capabilities.
 To improve my academic skills and professional performance within 8-9 months of time
frame.
 To develop decision-making and problem solving skills in 10 months for bright future
further.
Value of long term goals
These are those which can be achieved in near future terms, so they include lots of
efforts and time for planning over the ways in which it can be achieved. They are valuable as
acts as guidelines about daily activities along with assist in taking right decisions. My long term
personal goals are:
 To get reputable position in company that have great goodwill among mind of
consumers.
 To make career as a leader in firm within 2-3 years of time frame.
 To start my personal business to earn higher profits and revenue.

There are various sources that are utilized to conduct study related to the topic to collect
necessary information in the best possible manner. Source and citation is a process that
contribute in building trust among individuals. Purpose, reliability, author and relevance are
varied components that affects use of sources. At the time of using information from specified
sources, name of author identified to make sure that it has been selected from recognized
individuals. Sources are required to be reliable and related to study as it assist in ensuring quality
or information collected from diversified sources. At the end purpose also affects use of sources
according to main objectives selected to get accurate information.
