INTRODUCTION
Concept of technological singularity
The concept of technological singularity was initialised by Vernor Vinge when he has
written the essay in 1993 on the topic of the coming technological singularity in which he has
written the content about the end of human era because of the new super intelligence can
continue to update and advance itself in a technological manner in a very incomprehensible rate.
Technological singularity can be defined as the hypothetical point in which the growth of
Technology becomes irreversible and uncontrollable which results in the changes in human
civilization which is unforeseeable in nature. As per the research it is predicted that the
technology will achieve human-like intelligence by 2029 and also can achieve singularity by
2045. So basically singularity means that it creates the hypothetical future of super intelligent
machines which are technologically created and have a cognitive capacity which can prove far
beyond human possibility.
Examples of technological singularity are artificial intelligence, automation, computer
networking, computer human interfaces, biological science, block chain Technology and many
more.
Covered in report
The following discussion is based on the technological features of technological
singularity, ways in which different futurist conceive technological singularity, current and
future technologies that may be driving people towards that technological singularity, obstacles
to prevent technological singularity, different types of impacts of the technological singularity
happening or not happening based on social, ethical, moral, legal, political, environmental,
demographic and economic with proper conclusion and findings which includes the mostly
realistic working definition or interpretation of the technological singularity, determination of
technological singularity to happen, limitations of discussions, assumptions made, areas not
considered and assessing the whole report.

MAIN BODY
Technological features of the TS
Technological features of the technological singularity include the scientist who develops
the advancements in the domain of artificial intelligence along with the computer networking
which are self-aware Technology. It advances the computer and human interfaces such that
humans significantly evolve into a new species. More advancements in biological science
permits humans to physically use the machines and engineering techniques in human intelligence
(Zovko, 2018).
Ways in which different futurists conceive TS
Ways in which the different futuristic conceive technological singularity are that in the
coming time artificial intelligence will replace human intelligence. because it occurs when
artificial intelligence matches the desired and capability in order to survive in this world which
can be fulfilled by the artificial intelligence because it has the evolutionary motivation of humans
which is friendly in nature. Nowadays machines are programmed by human beings in order to
create the outcomes which the human comfort wants. In the research it is said that artificial
intelligence will overtake humans in the next five years because it will be much smarter than
humans (Bondarenko, 2020).
Current, emerging and future technologies that may be driving people towards the TS
Current, emerging and future technologies that may be driving people towards that
technological singularity are the artificial intelligence which is the machine that commands the
intelligence equal within the human intelligence. 5G and the internet of things, which is a
wireless Technology provides the backbone of the internet beyond computers. Server less
computing which distributes the computing resources effectively. Biometrics which permits
systems to identify a user with the help of the face and fingerprint. Augmented and virtual reality
which lowers the cost and increases the processing power in the companies with the help of
virtual technologies. Robotics which is a technological advancement hydro widespread the
workforce representation to reduce human efforts and provides comfort. Other emerging
technologies are block chain, natural language processing and quantum computing (Paschen,
2020).

Obstacles to prevent TS
Obstacles to prevent technological singularity are the human demands which will never be
satisfied. If humans get one innovation, then they will demand more and in this way singularity
can never be over until unless humans stop demanding and want more and more comfort so that
the human efforts can be finished in the coming time. Moreover, singularity has a junction that in
the coming time speed will increase at the fastest point which can be impossible to understand.
This can never happen with the human brains because human brains are not built with this kind
of development (Filippov, 2018).
Social impact of the TS happening (or not happening)
Social impact of the technological singularity happening or not happening are the human
nature and comforts which means that the coming time humans will demand more in the form of
improving its standard of life by not putting any effort and everything can get done with the help
of technology which is emergency and advancing nowadays therefore social impact is the reason
behind happening of the technological singularity (Marquis, 2020).
Ethical impact of the TS happening (or not happening)
Ethical impact can be defined as the values which are against or in the favour of emerging
Technology. Ethical impact of the technological singularity happening or not happening are
dependent on the values and beliefs which are ethical in nature and it is observed that cybercrime
has increased in the form of Technology which is unethical in nature and therefore it is examined
that ethical impact is the reason behind not happening of the technological singularity (Sergi,
2019).
Moral impact of the TS happening (or not happening)
Moral impact can be defined as the behaviour of the human beings which must be positive
at the time of advancement of the technology. Moral impacts of the technological singularity
happening or not happening are dependent on human nature which describes either constructive
or destructive behaviour towards the using of the technology. Because this technology is not only
giving the benefits to the world but also giving disadvantages if it is used in an excessive
manner. It is totally dependent on the human mind that they will use the technology or Miss use
it. Therefore, it is analysed that the moral impact is the reason behind the confusion between the
not happening or happening of the technological singularity (Al-Imam, 2020).

Legal impact of the TS happening (or not happening)
Legal impact can be defined as the different laws and legislations which are related with
the technology. Legal impact of the technological singularity happening or not happening is
dependent upon the strictness of the laws which means that there are laws which are strict in
nature and can become the hindrances in the emerging of the technologies which can prove
singularity in the coming time. Therefore, the legal impacts can be the reason behind not
happening of the technological singularity (Simon, 2018).
Political impact of the TS happening (or not happening)
Political impact can be defined as the relation with the government and its policies and
procedures based on the technology and the rules and regulations they have imposed on the
technology. The impact of the technological singularity happening or not happening depend
upon the government policies because if there are increased in the advancement of Technology
then the government can impose the ability to protect the citizens and ban on some technologies
so that the privacy of the citizens can be better maintained and they can be saved in order to
prevent crimes. Therefore, political impact is the reason behind not happening of the
technological singularity (Marchant, 2020).
Environmental impact of the TS happening (or not happening)
Environmental impact can be defined as the impact which depends upon the sustainability
of using the technology in an advanced manner. The environmental impact of the technological
singularity happening or not happening depends upon the environmental friendly situations given
by the technology and which is negative in nature because technology is not environmentally
friendly because it is not sustainable in nature. Therefore, environmental impact is reason behind
of not happening of the technological singularity (Nazaretyan, 2020).
Demographic impact of the TS happening (or not happening)
Demographic impact can be defined as the sectors of population which are distinguished
by either the location of the age group of the people along with the lifestyle. The demographic
impact of the technological singularity happening or not happening depends upon the structure of
the population distinguished in different localities based on the age group or any other method.
There are people who are digitized in nature and the sector of the population is totally dependent
on the technology for business or for personal use such as education or in the hospitality sector.

Therefore, demographic impact is a reason behind the happening of the technological singularity
(Sidorova, 2019).
Economic impact of the TS happening (or not happening)
Economic impact can be defined as the economic nature of the nation based on the gross
domestic product and employment along with the national income of the country. Economic
impact of the technological singularity happening or not happening is dependent upon the
business that is running in the nation and how much profit they are earning. Running of the
businesses is impossible without implementing technology which means that survival of the
companies is the most difficult if they do not implement the technology. Therefore, economic
impact is the reason behind the happening of the technological singularity (Kim, 2019).
CONCLUSION
Most realistic ‘working’ definition or interpretation of the TS
Most realistic working definition and interpretation of the technological singularity is the
technological singularity is referred to as the emergence and growth of the super intelligent
machines which are having capabilities more than human intelligence which cannot be predicted
even by humans as well. It is considered as the result of artificial intelligence and human
biological enhancement along with the brain-computer interfaces. It has a theoretical idea of
science fiction which results in the increasing speed of the power of the computer which can
transform human life in an unexpected manner.
Determination of TS to happen
It is determined that there are some impacts which are in the favour of technological
singularity happening such as the social impact, demographic impact and economic impact
provides the positive points. There are some impacts which are against technological singularity
happening such as ethical impact, legal impact, political impact and environmental impact
provides the negative points of not happening of the technological singularity. There is one
impact which is on both sides that is the moral impact which supports the technological
singularity in some factors and not supports in other factors.
Limitations of discussions
Limitations of the discussion is that the discussion is not having any proper evidence and
this is because the technological singularity is the topic which relates to the future and which can
5
Document Page
only associate with the assumptions of the technology advancements which can be in the future
so that is why the proper evidence is missing in the discussion which is a limitation of it.
Moreover, there is only the secondary research is being conducted rather than primary research
because of the sensitivity of the research topic.
Assumptions made
In the whole report there is an assumption made that the technological advancement will be
done by 2025 and 2045 which can prove the technological singularity but it is just a statement
without any evidence and just a prediction. because it is not compulsory that the advancement
will be made by 2025 only because it can also extend the timeline.
Areas not considered
In the whole report there are many areas which are not considered such as the negative
impact of the technological singularity on society and on human skills. Measures how it can be
prevented and how it can be used in a positive manner. All these areas are important to consider
so that a better explanation can be given of the topic. Moreover, if primary research is conducted
than the area of analysis and interpretation could also be included with better description.
Assessing whole report
In order to better understand the concept of technological singularity, it is important to
analyse the concept of technological singularity along with its features. it is essential to examine
the ways in which different futuristic conceive technological singularity along with the current
and future technologies that may be driving people towards the singularity. It is necessary to
determine the obstacles to prevent technological singularity. It is significant to examine the
different types of impacts of technological singularity happening or not happening based upon
the social, ethical, moral, legal, political, environmental, demographic and economic impact. It is
crucial to investigate the most realistic working definition and interpretation of the technological
singularity. It is imperative to study about the determination of technological singularity to
happen. It is required to assess the limitations of discussions along with the assumptions made
and areas which are not covered in the report. Hence this report covers all such areas in order to
better understand the conception of technological singularity.
