Rationale
This study has been carried out for the academic interest which will help in gaining wider set of
perspective towards technology and generation gap by effectively evaluating on the
categorization of generation. This is considered to be a wide concept and it helps in gaining
wider set of knowledge.
III. METHODOLOGY OUTLINE
Research methods: It is a specific procedure which helps in analysing and collecting the
various set of data related to the research topic (Jensen, 2017). It is classified into quantitative
and qualitative research methods. Quantitative research method largely emphasizes on the
statistical and analysis of the numerical data with the use of questionnaire, surveys, polls, etc. On
the other hand, Qualitative research methods is very useful as it helps in interpreting the various
variables of the data by gaining in depth knowledge with the help of content analysis, focus
group, research of case study, ethnographic research, etc. The researcher of the study will select
qualitative research methods to critically determine the generation and technology gap.

Research philosophy: It is phenomenon according to which the information related the
study must be gathered, interpreted and used. It is classified into positivism and interpretivism
philosophy (Quinlan and et.al., 2019). Positivism approach is useful as it adheres with the
knowledge which is based on actual facts with the sense of observation. Moreover,
interpretivism philosophy understand the key elements and variables of the study by engaging
human interest within the subject matter. The researcher of the study will select interpretivism
philosophy to effectively evaluate the area associated with the generation gaps. This method will
be used because it helps in understanding various key variables related with the aim and
objectives of research.
Research design: It is an overall strategy which helps in combining all the components of
the study and making sure that the problem of the research is resolved. It is classified into
exploratory and descriptive research design (Litosseliti, 2018). Exploratory method has only few
set of study for the reference which initially serves as the tool in order to provide theoretical idea
associated with the research problem. On the other hand, descriptive method tends to describe
the key behaviour of the study without influencing the subject matter. Descriptive method is used
because it helps in gaining in- depth understanding related to the subject study.
Research approach: It is a plan or procedure with the set of broad assumptions by setting
broad set of assumptions. It helps in addressing the nature of the specific research problem. It is
classified into inductive and deductive approach. Inductive approach starts with an appropriate
reasoning which has been proposed at the end (Almalki, 2016). It is useful in generating new set
of theories. On the contrary, deductive approach will be used. However, deductive approach
results in formulating hypothesis in order to test the validity of the specific theory.
Data collection: It is an appropriate measure as it is very useful in measuring and gathering
the various set of information in order to gain wider set of perspective associated with the
research questions (Kumar, 2019). It is classified into primary and secondary source of data
collection. Primary data are first- hand information with surveys, questionnaires, etc. On the
other hand, secondary data collection are information upon which investigation has been carried
out earlier. This can be collected through journals, books, newspapers, governmental
departments, manuals, etc. The researcher of the study will select primary and secondary source
of data collection in order to critically investigate on the technology and generation gap.

Sampling: It is a systematic procedure which is very useful in predetermining the total
number of the observations which has been selected from the large population. It is classified
into probabilistic and non- probabilistic sampling methods (Basias and Pollalis, 2018).
Probability sampling states that all the members who are within the large population has got
equal chance to get selected within the sample size. It includes random sampling, cluster
sampling, systematic sampling, etc. On the contrary, non- probabilistic sampling methods such
as Quota sampling, purposive sampling etc. where the members from large population are
selected on the random basis. The researcher of the study will select random probabilistic
sampling method where 20 people of Generation X will be selected from Australia. This method
is used because, random sampling gives each individual equal chance to get selected within the
sample size.
Data Analysis: It is a procedure of transforming and cleaning the data collected in order to
discover the useful set of information related to the subject matter. It is classified into SPSS
analysis and thematic analysis. SPSS analysis is useful because it helps in predicting the complex
set of data which has large information (Johnson and Christensen, 2019). The researcher of the
study will select thematic analysis to effectively evaluate the use of advanced technology by
Generation X and Millennials. This method is used because thematic analysis helps in
interpreting the various themes and variables of study to gain conclusive results.
IV. METHODS
Research methods: It is classified into quantitative and qualitative research methods. The
researcher of the study will select qualitative research methods to critically determine the
generation and technology gap.
Research philosophy: It is classified into positivism and interpretivism philosophy. The
researcher of the study will select interpretivism philosophy to effectively evaluate the area
associated with the generation gaps.
Research design: It is classified into exploratory and descriptive research design. The
researcher of the study will select descriptive research design
Research approach: It is classified into inductive and deductive approach. The researcher of
the study will select inductive approach.

Data collection: It is classified into primary and secondary source of data collection. The
researcher of the study will select primary and secondary source of data collection in order to
critically investigate on the technology and generation gap.
Sampling: It is classified into probabilistic and non- probabilistic sampling methods. The
researcher of the study will select random probabilistic sampling method where 20 people of
Generation X will be selected from Australia.
Data Analysis: It is classified into SPSS analysis and thematic analysis. The researcher of
the study will select thematic analysis to effectively evaluate the use of advanced technology by
Generation X and Millennials.
Ethical consideration: The researcher of the study will carry out the investigation within
ethical framework by using data from valid sources and properly citing the sources from where
the data has been collected (Ethical Considerations, 2020). Complete anonymity has been
maintained while carrying out the study. Nobody was harmed while carrying out the study and
all the resources were effectively utilized. All the information of the participants were kept
confidential. Informed consent of the participants were there and voluntary participation where
they have full flexibility to quit the study.
