This is a feedback template for Research Methods & Analysis Assessment for MSc Psychology (Conversion) onsite course at Leeds Beckett University. This is a 24 hour open-book exam. You must answer all 3 questions in Part 1 and all mcq questions in Part 2.
Part 1: You must put your answers to each question underneath the corresponding question, and submit this template by the end of the exam (i.e. within
the 24 hours) using the link entitled ‘Part 1 submission’. The link is in the ‘Examination Submission August 2021’ folder accessed via the ‘COMPUTER EXAM’

Part 2: The mcq questions can be accessed and answered via the Part 2 link in the ‘Examination Submission August 2021’ folder
Part 1 and Part 2 of the exam are in exactly the same format as they would have been had you been examined under standard conditions (e.g. for Part 1,
answer 3 scenario -based questions via SPSS and report the outcomes in the standard format given in the online material and workshops). For this reason,
we would not expect you to take longer than the 2 hours set to complete Part 1 and 1 hour set to complete Part 2 in the original exam. However, in
recognition of the fact that you would be taking the exam at home and may therefore encounter difficulties other than those that might be encountered on
University premises, you are allowed up to 24 hours from the start of the exam to submit your answers to Part 1 via this template. Part 2 can be started any
time within the 24 hour period but must be completed within 1 hour and 15 minutes (or longer for students with an exam adjustment plan) of starting it.
There are no expected word counts for the Part 1 questions below. This was because it was not deemed necessary to provide word counts in this instance
given that your answers should follow the model formats for reporting the outcomes of statistical tests as provided in the online material and as practiced
by you in the accompanying computer lab workshops (with model answers additionally provided after each lab).

1. 1. Do WhatsApp users take more photos with their phones?
A researcher recruited 100 people who used WhatsApp, and another 100 people who didn’t use WhatsApp (as a control group), and
recorded how many photographs they took with their phones over the course of a month.

With the above calculation it is clear that both the people that is people who use WhatsApp and who do not use WhatsApp are equal. Further
with analysis of average people it was evaluated that maximum photos taken by a person was 50 and on an average people take 10 photos.
Further with help of chi- square test it was evaluated that people who used WhatsApp had taken maximum of 11 photos that is total of 16 people.
In contrast to this, people who didn’t used WhatsApp has taken the highest photos that is 50 but it was taken by only 1 person.

2. Is students’ learning of course content dependent upon the type of feedback they are given, and if so, in what way?
A teacher taught the same course content but varied the way feedback was given to three different classes of student. Class 1 were
given positive feedback whenever they showed correct understanding of course content, class 2 were given negative feedback
whenever they showed incorrect understanding and class 3 were given neutral feedback, unrelated to levels of understanding. The
teacher then assessed the effectiveness of these three methods by recording the students’ performance on a test of course content
(from 0 to 100%, where 0= no knowledge).

With the analysis of the descriptive statistic it was evaluated that out of all, the type of feedback was equally divided. With the analysis it was
analyzed the maximum exam marks which was average people was 50 marks. Hence, with this it can be implied that on an average people
secure 50 marks. Further with analysis of regression it was evaluated that marks of student are dependent on the type of feedback which they are
provided. This is pertaining to the fact that significance value is 0.000 which is less than the standard that is 0.05. hence, this simply reflects the
fact that there is a relation between the exam marks and there is dependence over type of feedback being provided.

A book publisher wanted to find out the relative effectiveness of two relationship self-help books. Readers were given both books to
read, one at a time and in counterbalanced order with six months between each reading. Two months after reading a book, the
readers were asked to rate their relationship happiness (higher scores equals more happiness).

With the analysis of the data it was viewed that total of 500 responses were taken and out of which average people has provided 20
as rating of happiness and for book 2 it is 18. Hence it can be stated that book 1 is providing more happiness in comparison to the
