Introduction
In the present business environment, an organization is mainly depends on the motivation
level of its staff members for it’s effective performance. Employee motivation plays a vital
role in an organization in order to raise performance and gain higher growth as well as
success at marketplace. It is important for the company to encourage employees as it
helping raising performance, providing satisfactory service to customers, decline employer
turnover rate, decrease cost, increase profitability, help in attaining competitive advantage
and many more. For the present study, Sainsbury’s is taken into consideration. It is the
second largest supermarket of UK thst offer its product as well as services in more than 19
countries and has around 1,19,000 talented staff members which is one of the reason of its
success. The report will analyse the impact of staff motivation schemes used for employee
retention within an organization. Along with this, research methods used to conduct study
is elaborated in the report.

One of the main objectives of conducting this study is to analyze the impact of staff
motivation schemes used by an organization in order to retain employees at workplace.
This study help researcher in both personal and professional context. In context to
professional, it help in gaining knowledge about strategies used by employees for
motivation which help in performing job properly in the organization it works in future. In
context to personal, it help investigator to enhance skills such as data analysis, data
interpretations, data collection, communication, time management and many more.
Moreover, it also help investigator to gain opportunities in future and conduct study
systematically and properly.

According to Asdar (2018), talent management is defined as the process of
attracting, developing, retaining talented staff members within the organisation for
longer time period. In addition to this, it is considered as an important aspect
within an organisation as it help in increasing productivity, develop brand image,
enhance market and gain higher profitability in an effective manner.
Concept and importance of employee motivation in context to organization
As per the view point of Aziri, (2019), it is analyzed that employees are the asset of an
organization in order to gain higher growth and success at marketplace. It is important for a
business entity to motivate its staff members on a continuous basis as it help in employee
retention and satisfaction at workplace. In addition to this, it also assist an organazation to
cut down the cost of hiring new employees, maintaining its brand image, maintaining

performance, increasing profitability and many more (Aziri, 2019.). Moreover, it is
determined that with the help of staff motivation schemes, company such as Sainsbury is
able to provide effective service to its customer which is one of reason for its higher
growth and attainment of competitive advantage at marketplace.
Staff motivation schemes used by Sainsbury’s for retaining and satisfying employees
of an organization
According to Hanaysha and Hussain (2018), it is determined that there are various
employee motivation scheme used by an organization with an objective to satisfy and
retain employees for longer time period. One of these scheme is providing incentives equal
to the inputs they put in order to meet with the targets and attain objectives. It help in
motivating staff members to implement activities in a proper and systematic manner which
leads to increase in performance and profitability of a company (Hanaysha and Hussain,
2018). Another technique is providing training end development session, it help staff
members to gain both personal and professional growth in an effective manner. Apart from
this, there are also other strategies and schemes used such as allow participation of
employees in decision-making, equal pay, maintaining equality, providing timely
incentives and bonus, appraisals, promotions and many more.
Issues faced by Sainsbury’s whole implementing staff motivation schemes at
workplace
As per the view point of Lasrado and et. al., (2017), it is analyzed that there are various
issues faced by an organization at the time of executing staff motivation techniques at
workplace. One of the issue is non acceptance by employees as there are many staff
members who is not agree with the scheme given by company which in turn develop a
negative mindset of employees towards organization and decline their performance level as
well (Lasrado, Gomiseck and Uzbeck, 2017). In addition to this, lack of communication
among employer and employees is also the issue faced while implementing staff
motivation techniques. There are also other problems faced such as dissatisfaction among
employees, non participation of staff members, lack of resources, lack of time and so on.
The earlier studies state about staff motivation schemes used by companies but
have lack information regarding its impact on employee satisfaction and retention.
In addition to this, there is no information regarding challenges faced by
companies because of implementing staff motivation techniques. In order to find
this research gap, the present investigation is conducted.
