Section Two: Reasons for choosing this research project
Reasons for choosing the project (e.g links to other subjects you are studying, personal interest, future plans, knowledge/skills
you want to improve, why the topic is important):
In the current competitive world, the competition is very high and it is very necessary for the companies to manage the talent. This
management of talent is necessary because if they will go to some other companies then the present company will not be able to manage the
work in proper manner. Thus, the major reason for selecting the topic is to gain knowledge relating to managing the talent in company. Also,
another reason for choosing the talent management is the personal interest of the researcher as they want to gain insight relating to talent
management and role of HR in it. Also, another important reason for choosing talent management and role of HR in managing talent is to
identify the strategies how the talent can be retained within the company. also, it is very necessary to ascertain the impact of managing talent
over the HR of the hotel.
Section Three: Literature sources searched
Use of key literature sources to support your research question, objective or hypothesis:
In the words of Cappelli and Keller, (2017) talent management is a process through which the talent that is the human resources are
retained within the company. In hospitality sector the need of employees is very high and this is majorly because of the reason that in hotels
consumer are handled with employees only. Thus, it is very necessary for hotel to have talented employees as these employees only represent
the complete hotel. But in contrast to this Collings, Scullion and Caligiuri, (2018) articulates that talent management starts since hiring and
recruiting of employees and is continued till the employee leaves the company. For managing the talent in company is necessary and it can be
made by using different strategies like performance appraisal, motivation in both financial and non- financial motivators, carrier development

and many other strategies are being used in order to retain talented employees.
As per the views of Boselie and Thunnissen, (2017) talent management is important for hospitality sector because of the fact that this
will make the employees feel that they are connected with the company. This is majorly because of the reason that if HR of hotel will take care
of the need of employees then they will be more connected with the company and this will motivate them to work with more proficiency. As
against of this McDonnell and et.al., (2017) argues that major importance of talent management is that focusing on managing talent will assist
hotel and other companies within hospitality sector to improve employee motivation. This is because of the fact that when company take
measures in developing human resource then this motivate the employee to work more better in direction of achieving group goals. In the views
of Krishnan and Scullion, (2017) the major importance of talent management is that this help in satisfying the client to a great extent. The major
reason underlying this fact is that when the needs of employees are catered they perform to a great extent. Thus, this provide the clients and
consumers with good services and products. Thus, this satisfies the client to a great extent. Thus, this in turn increases the overall profitability
and productivity of the company.
In accordance to thinking of Davis and et.al., (2016) there are some challenges which the HR can might face at time of retaining the
talent within workplace. This is majorly because of the reason that if company focuses on some employees then other employees might feel
offended as the major focus is being given on some employees only. Thus, this might create drifts among the HR and the employees and this
might have an impact over the performance of the employees. But in contrast to this Thunnissen, (2016) states that the major challenge faced
by HR at time of retaining employees is that every employee has some specific need and to retain them that need has to be fulfilled and this is
very tedious job to cater to need of every employee. Also, one more major challenge is that it is not possible for HR to create an actual value
proposition which will attract the employees. This is because it is not at all necessary that the HR will assess the actual needs of the employees
and will be able to cater to all the needs in intended manner.
