Chapter 1: Introduction Introduction of the research: Talent management refers to a process of identifying vacant job position, appointing best and suitable candidate, develop capabilities, skills and knowledge in order to match the required position and than retain them for a longer period of time for attaining organisational goals and objectives effectively(Ashton and Morton, 2005). It is defined as a commitment of a company in order to hire, recruit and develop best and capable candidates in the company. In addition to this, talent management involves all the work process which are associated with retaining potential candidates within the organisation. It will further aid the managers in order to attract capable and potential employees so that they can attain their organisational goals and objectives effectively. In the present context of a hotel which is located in London named as Cairn, it is very essential for them to retain their talented staff members and attract new candidates to generate more revenue. The present research is based on requirement of managing talent in their organisation so that they can enhance the performance and productivity of their employees. Background of the project: Talent management is one of the important part for every organisation as it will aid them in retaining skilled and capable staff members within the organisation. In reference to Cairn Hotel, it is very essential for the management team of company to manage their talented employees in order to perform their functions in a smooth manner(Cappelli, 2009). The present research is conducted so that the managers of hotel can understand and analyse the importance and benefits of talent management. Statement of the research: Research statement of this project is that it affects the performance and productivity of staff members.
