interaction between superiors and subordinate includes the discussion on individual performance
during tasks.
According to the perception of Herbert and Doverspike (1990) who stated that
performance evaluation can be defined as the systematic evaluation of person on the basis of
their performance at workplace as well as an individual potential to develop.
As per the thought of Cascio Wayne F, (1995) performance evaluation technique can be
considered to be as a tool for identifying the training needs by workers. The author Creamer,
(1997) have stated that there are several methods as well as techniques which can be utilised by
Human Resource Manager in Hilton Hotel for measuring the performance of employees within
an enterprise (Bianchi, Bovaird and Loeffler, 2017).
He also said that all methods or strategies are not suitable for all types of business.

technique which can be utilised for measuring the performance of workers. He also stated that
accumulating information about employees' performance from different sources will assist
Human Resource Manager in eliminating chances of errors. On the other hand, according to the
perception of Yukl and Lepsinger (1995) the errors or chances of mistake in performance
appraisal system can be avoided or minimised by allowing an individual to measure the
performance of all people within an organisation.
Dulewicz (1989) has stated that feedback is an appropriate technique which helps an
individual in identifying the performance gap and analysing the area of improvement. It also
enables leaders and followers to improve as well as strengthen their relationship (Hunleth, 2011).
The 360-degree approach of performance evaluation has been critiqued by Eichel and Bender
(1984).He stated that performance evaluation approaches or techniques are utilised by Human
Resource Manager in an organisation for controlling workers.
According to the thought of Boswell (2000) the objective of performance appraisal
system is to help workers in improving their performance and to motivate employees to increase
their participation in business activities.
As per the view of Yoder and dale (1980) the performance of an individual can be
measured on the basis of their personality as well as contribution made by them in different
activities during the project. According to thoughts by Herbert and Doverspike (1990)
performance management as well as appraisal is considered to be an essential part of
management function, especially in hospitality sector (Asare and Conger, 2018.).
