Chapter 1: INTRODUCTIONIn highly competitive business environment, it is very important for an enterprise tofacilitate innovations. As the innovation will assist an organisation in gaining the competitiveadvantage in the market. The company in order to execute innovation requiresmanaging itsHuman Resource in effective manner. Performance appraisals assist firm in managing theHuman Resource. It also supports workers in identifying their performance level and recognisingthe area of improvement.The purpose of the assignment to examine the way companies in hospitality sectorconduct performance appraisal. It also focuses on analysing implication of performanceappraisal in Hospitality sector in context of Hilton Hotel.1.1 Background the performance has been done by the manager or leader by monitoring as well as observing theperformance of workers during tasks. During the earlier times performance appraisal wasconsidered to be as the difficult, complex as well as time-consuming task.However, with thepassage of time, due to continuous changes in external factors and increase in the level ofcompetition, It has become manager or leader to manage people and their performance. Performance appraisal is defined as the task or procedure which includes several activities suchas identifying,monitoring, recording as well as developing job relevant strengths. It is alsorecognised as the systematic procedure for analysing the performance of workers within anenterprise. A performance appraisal technique assists manager or leaders in making suitablebusiness decisions.
