INTRODUCTION
Topic- Impact of Globalisation on different strategies that is been employed by the business
for entering into the emerging market: A study on Tesco.
Background
Globalization refers to the process of the integration and the interaction among the
people, government and the companies across the world. It implies for the opening of the local
and the nationalistic perspectives towards a broader outlook that include free capital transfer,
services and the goods across the national frontiers. The interdependence among the different
countries is growing due to the increase in the integration of the trade, people, ideas and finance
in the single global marketplace. In other words, it means the international integration that arises
from the exchange of the world views, ideas, products and other aspects like culture. It involves
exchange of the national and the cultural resources worldwide (Giddens, 2018). The major
factors that results in globalization are transportation and the telecommunication infrastructure
with the inclusion of the rise in the telegraph and the internet technology. The present research
study is based on Tesco, the largest multinational retailer of UK, deals in wide range of the food
and the grocery products. Furthermore, the study throws deep insights towards the impact of the
globalisation on the strategies created by the business organization in order to capture the
emerging market. Moreover, research aims, objectives and methodology are also been described
under the study.

Research questions
Q.1 What are the positive and the negative factors of the globalization that influence the strategy
of organization?
Q.2 What are the recent trend of the globalization that are adopted by the company in order to
enter in the emerging market?
Rationale
The major reason behind studying the effect of the globalisation is that in recent times it
has been a major issue that it impacts the strategic management of the company to great extent.
Due to the globalisation the firm has to seek for opening new offices or the branches in the
different countries across the globe so that the desire and the needs of the customers can be met
by expanding the business in other parts of the countries (Shahbaz and et.al., 2018). It affects the
strategic management because it is essential for the organization to identify expansion strategy
which had to be developed by it for extending its services in several countries. The other main
reasons for making the study relating to the impact of globalisation on the different marketing
strategies of the company is it is the major issue that each and every organization is facing which
becomes important for the researcher to gain the deeper insights relating this issue and the
prospects that are associated with the globalization.
Literature review
Theme 1: Impact of globalisation on the strategic management of the organization.
According to the Kaufmann and Arnold, (2018), it has been identified that, Globalisation
creates several opportunities in order to share the knowledge, values, technology, behavioural
norms and in promoting the development at various levels across the different countries.
However, it has also been viewed by the Macchion and et.al., (2017), that, responding to the
globalization requires the organization for changing their strategy for coping with the
environment and in order to redesign the internal capability for matching the strategy with the
external environment. In accordance with the Ferreira and Fernandes, (2017), it has been
analysed that globalization has resulted in initiating different social movements in the
developing countries. Strategy gap arises when the strategy does not match with the global
environment. Golini and Kalchschmidt, (2015), viewed that it is very essential for the
organization to select and develop the best strategy in context of the globalization so that it could
be able to survive, sustain and succeed worldwide.

Theme 2: ways of entering into the emerging market
As stated by the Fidel, Cervera and Schlesinger, (2016), it is been identified that the
company can enter into the emerging market by adopting corporate restructuring strategy that is
through joint venture, merger and acquisitions etc. It is very important that the company chooses
right strategy or option before entering into the emerging market as joint venture facilitates
various opportunities to the company for gaining the new insights and the expertise. However, It
restricts the flexibility as the company has to provide more focus towards the joint venture and
thus their other business processes get suffer.
Research methodology
(Source: Research onion, 2017)
Research type- Specifically there are two major types of the research that are qualitative
and the quantitative research (Hay and et.al., 2018). With reference to this study, scholar will be
using the qualitative research type because qualitative characteristics has to be studied regarding
the effect of the globalization on the strategies developed by the organization in order to enter in
the new markets.
Research Approach- There are mainly two approaches that can be adopted by the
investigator for making the research study that involve inductive and deductive approach
(Rosskam, 2018). In this study, researcher will be using inductive approach which begins with
the observation and end with the research processes.

Research Philosophy- The philosophy are of two types that include positivism and
interpretivism. The researcher under this study uses interpretivism philosophy as it helps in
defining the cross-cultural gaps and the leadership quality in making the qualitative analysis.
Data collection- Data could be gathered majorly from two sources that involves primary
and secondary sources. The researcher will be using both the sources for making the study more
reliable and valid. Scholar will prepare questionnaire as a primary source which will be made
filled by the 15 executives of the company (Lê and et.al., 2019). As a secondary source,
researcher will collect data from published articles, internet and journals etc.
Data analysis- For analysing the data, two techniques could be used by the investigator
that is thematic and SPSS. According to this study, scholar will be using thematic method for
data analysis where various themes will be prepared regarding the effect of the globalization on
the strategic management and the different ways that the organization can adopt for entering into
the new market.
Ethical considerations- It relates with the norms and the guidelines that need to be
followed by the researcher at the time of making the study. Proper consent form has to be framed
and made signed by the respondent (Boyd, 2018). Language used must not distort the
sentiments of the participant.
