INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background
Talent management introduces to the organisational commitment to hire recruit, select,
retain and develop the knowledgeable and talented workforce available in the job market. this is
an important part of business success and growth as it supports an organisation in retaining of
best employees that results are higher employee’s satisfaction, improved brand image etc. There
are different initiatives of talent management that helps an organisation in its success. These are
relationship management, flexibility, self motivation, succession planning, training and develop,
job rotation, role design, maintaining individual identity, providing opportunities, recognition
and reward etc. These are the main initiatives of retaining talented employees at workplace that
results in improved business success (AGARWAL, 2018). There are different benefits of talent
management that helps company in improvement of its business success. These are
accomplishment of vision, builds up business reputation, succeed over competitors, better
decision making, retaining finest talent, higher employee’s satisfaction and motivation etc. These
are biggest advantages assist medium size organisation in enhancement of its business
performance. For this research, Rowlinson knitwear is a chosen medium size organisation. This
is manufacturing apparels that produce Knitwear and school wear for students at United
Kingdom.
1.2 Statement of the problem
Retaining talented workforce at workplace is one of the main problem faced by medium
size organisations. For example: Covid 19 is a pandemic situation and in this most of the
employees leave the current job because of earning higher amount of capital. In this situation, it

is the role o business manager to retain relented employees by providing some financial and non
financial benefits. This will be essential for medium size organisation as it support them in
retaining of talent at workplace that turn to impact business performance in positive manner.
Therefore, management of talent in the workplace in important and beneficial for business
enterprise in accomplishing of competitive advantages (Altindağ, Çirak and Acar, 2018).
1.3 Research questions
What are the effective roles of talent management within an organisation?
What are the different strategies of managing talent and their effectiveness at workplace of
Rowlinson knitwear?
What are relationship between talent management and business performance of medium size
organisation?
1.4 Research aim and objectives
Research aim: Main aim of this research is “To identify the significance of talent management
for medium size business organisation in improvement of its performance”. A study on
Rowlinson knitwear
Research Objectives:
To explore roles of talent management within an organisation.
To determine the strategies of managing talent at workplace of Rowlinson knitwear.
To identify the relationship between talent management and business performance of
medium size organisation.
1.5 Research rationale
Main rationale behind doing this investigator is to recognise the importance of talent
management in enhancement of performance of medium size business organisation. This will be
essential for researcher as a personal level. This assist them by rising their research skills and
knowledge i.e. literature review, data collection, time management, and data analyse. All these
are useful skills for investigator as it facilitates them in completion of research project
successfully and within allotted time period (Baharin and Hanafi, 2018). This research wills also
students at professional level. As it increases the student’s knowledge about the role of talent
management, strategies for managing talent and relationship between business performance and

talent management. Therefore, these are the main and biggest reasons of conducting this
investigation.
Along with this, current investigation has broad scope because it facilitates in improving
understanding regarding the talent management. This study uses quantitative information that
assist in collecting of numerical data. This study will be completed in less period of time that
proof that, this research has wide scope.

LITERATURE REVIEW
Literature review is the systematic process that is essential within an investigation because it
assist in gathering of secondary information. For collecting secondary information, there are
requirement for using different sources which are books, articles, publication research,
magazines etc. These are useful sources for researcher to use and gather secondary information
about the talent management. Purpose of literature review is to determine the research gap in
exiting topic. In current study, main gap is the significance of talent management for medium
size business organisation in improvement of its performance. In previous studies, there were
data available regarding the talent management but there were lack or inaccurate information
about the effectiveness of talent management in improvement of business performance. This is a
main gap and for overcoming this gap, research questions will be applied which are defined as
below:
2.1 What are the effective roles of talent management within an organisation?
As per the opinion given by Bibi (2019, Talent management introduces to the systematic
process or procedure of determining the vacant post, hiring and recruiting suitable candidates,
creating the skills and expertise of the individual to match the job position as well as retaining
them to attain long term goals and objectives of an organisation. In the workplace, talent
management plays an important role by reducing the high employee turnover and improving
business productivity. There are different roles of talent management which will be explained as
below:
Retraining finest talent: This is a main role of talent management that helps business
organisation in retaining of finest talent. Retaining of finest and filtration of talented workforce
once is possible. For this, talented workforce at workplace helps other employees to work
comfortably and also motivate them. It will help in increment of satisfaction among employees
that results in higher retention of finest talent.
Succeed over competitors: This is another role of talent management that assist business
enterprise in competing their competitors. This will further help business enterprise in stabling of
strong presence in national as well as international marketplace (Bratton and Watson, 2018).
Helps in improving employee’s job satisfaction and motivation: This is an essential role
played by talent management within the working environment. Talented employee’s works for

essential because it facilitate in retaining of knowledgably employees for long time period. There
are different strategies that will be essential for Rowlinson knitwear in managing of talent at
workplace. These strategies will be defined as below:
Organise learning and development: Rowlinson knitwear should prove the opportunities of
learning and development to their talented workforce. In this, providence of monitor as well as
non-monitory benefits plays important role in management of talent. Bu getting these benefits,
talented workers not requires leaving current job as it helps in management talent in the
workplace.
Develop a clear job description: This is another and important way for Rowlinson knitwear

different forms of methodologies including research philosophy, research approach, research
strategy, research choice etc. All these are important types of methodologies that will helps
investigator in gathering as well as evaluating of appropriate information about the topic.
Research methodology is important part of the research because it facilitates in data collection
and data analysis as well as provides valid outputs that results in accomplishment of research aim
and objectives successfully. All these types of methodologies will be described as below:
3.1 Research philosophy
This refers to the process of collecting and analysing the data about the title. This section
of the research methodology classified into two different parts which are called positivism and
interpretivisim. Both types are effective but in accordance to the present investigation, positivism
philosophy is useful as it facilitates investigator in gathering as well as analysing of quantitative
data. This will help in collecting of numerical data within less period of time. Interpretivisim is
another type that is not valuable for doing this research as it takes maximum time and also not
facilitate in collecting an evaluating of numerical information. Therefore, according to the
current study, positivism type is more valuable (Rawashdeh, 2018).
3.2 Research design
This is the process of finding research problem. There are basically three types of
research design including descriptive, experimental and exploratory. These are main types of
research design but for doing this research, descriptive type of research design is more valuable
as it helps investigator in identifying of research problem and also in collecting, evaluating and
using of quantitative data that results in attainment of valid outcomes in lesser period of time.
3.3 Research strategy:
This is an effective method of collecting information regarding the research area. There
are different types of research strategies including experimental, survey, interview, case study,
action research, and literature review. These are identified most essential types of research

choosing. In this, literature review helps in collecting of secondary information, whereas survey
will assist in gathering of primary information.
3.4 Data collection and sample size
3.4.1 Data collection:
This refers to procedure of gathering information about the topic or field of study.
Primary and secondary are two essential and useful sources of data collection that will be used
for collecting data about the talent management (Son, Park, Bae and Ok, 2020). Questionnaire as
a survey strategy will be applied for collecting primary information from the participants.
Secondary data will be gathered for literature review from articles, books, and many other
secondary sources. Therefore, in according to the current study, both primary and secondary
sources are useful.
3.4.2 Sample size
Sampling is the systematic procedure of selecting sample size from the total population.
There are two techniques that are essential in sample selection, including probability and non-
probability. In this research, probability sampling is essential as it facilitate investigator in
selecting of 20 employees of Rowlinson knitwear randomly. Main reason regarding the selection
of probability sampling as it not takes maximum time and also assists in providing quantitative
information as compare to non-probability sampling.
3.5 Data analysis
This refers to the process on analysing information that will be gathered from
questionnaire. Questionnaire is a research instrument that provides quantitative data and for
analysing this, frequency distribution analysis as an analytical technique will be used. This will
help researcher in analysing of quantitative type of information without captivating additional
time. Ms-Excel will also use for making graphs according to the research questions. As it helps

objectives and aim in successful manner.
3.6 Reliability and validity of the research
This is another part of methodology that assist investigator in analysing the validity and
reliability of the information. Questionnaire is an effective instrument as it helps in collecting of
valid and reliable information about the topic. Therefore, questionnaire will be chosen for
analysing the validity and reliability of the information.
3.7 Research ethics
Ethics are important for researcher in completing of each activity of the study in ethical
manner. There are different principles of research ethics such as discuss intellectual property
frankly, be conscious for multiple roles, rap into ethics sources, follow informed consent rules,
respect confidentiality and privacy, provide right to withdraw etc. All these are main principles
of ethics that should be following by investigator while doing this investigation. As it facilitates
in completing of full project ethically as well as successfully (Widodo and Mawarto, 2020).
3.8 Time Plan
Time is important and necessary part of completing the research project within a given time
period. Gantt chart is essential tool of time management that will be used for identifying the
starting and ending time of research completion. Gantt chart or time plan of current investigation
will be shown as below:

3.9 Research limitations
There are different limitations of preparing the present investigation including lack of time.
Secondary data may be out of date, respondent’s behaviour when collecting of primary data will
be not ethical etc. These are major limitation that will impact on researcher performance while
completion of full project effectively. Gantt chart will be followed for reducing the issue of time.

in managing of talent in the workplace. These are providence of training, providence of benefits
and rewards etc. These are important and significant for company in attaining of competitive
