Research Title(in form of a question)
Eco-friendly packaging in fast food chains.
Research Aim (e.g., what do you wish to achieve? What do you want to learn to do? What do you want
to find out?)
The aim of this research is “To examine the impact of new eco-friendly packaging in fast food chains to
nature”. A study on Greggs
Research Objectives (a number of steps that address HOW the research aim will be achieved)
1. To determine the concept of Eco-friendly packaging
2. To examine the benefits of eco-friendly packaging in Greggs.
Research Questions (questions should be focused, researchable, feasible to answer, specific to find
results, complex, and relevant to the objective and your field of study)
1. What is concept of eco-friendly packaging?
2. What are the benefits and challenges associated with eco-friendly packaging in Greggs.
Research Rationale/Significance (valid arguments/reason for choosing the research topic)
Eco friendly packaging is made from the biodegradable and recycled material that is made out of
wastage from natural resources. In relation with manufacturing process there is requirement to focus
towards sustainable development so that there can be better utilization of available resources of an
organization at same time there will be contribution towards saving of environment. So, with the
changing dynamic environment and part of ethical consideration it has become more crucial for
organizations to realize the importance of using sustainable measures for development.
Section Two
Brief Literature Review on the chosen topic (critical review of the relevant literature that showcase
understanding, interpretation, analysis, clarity of thought, synthesis, and development of argument on the
research topic; and identifies a gap that the research will attempt to address )

As per (Caemron 2018),eco-friendly packaging is a concept that is related with sustainable
packaging, environment friendly packaging or green packaging(Idrees, Rangariand Jeelani, 2018) . It
is a biodegradable form of package that is nontoxic, reusableand recyclable and is made from the
recycle products that generally includes natural for the bi mass products that are manufacture from
low impact means. Biodegrade means are related with usage of eco-friendly products that is wastage
from living organisms & actual plant, another organism and animal when life ends. Generally, the
products are made of banana leaf, paper, processed bamboo, vegetable fibers & food that are
example of biodegrade waste. In February, 2021 UK bakery chain Greggs has launched the Greggs
pledge that is for sustainable development commitments that is for making packaging
improvements. For this there is requirement to focus on modern business stand and not just for
profitability. The global pandemic has reminded of all the importance for community, kindness
power and value of collaboration to deal with biggest issues(Abhijith, Ashok and Rejeesh, 2018) . For
this there is rebuilding of economies and addressing of complex environmental problems. They are
working to introduce highly efficient ordering and forecasting system. In 2019 there has been cutting
of 350 tones of single use plastic from its operations and by the year 2021 Greggs is working to
eliminate all the unnecessary plastic use from its shops and manufacturing sites. There has been
substitution with suitable items that is swapping plastic bags with use of more paper bags and plastic
packaging with use of cardboard packaging. There has been commitment to include 50 percent of
recycled content and also ensure that 100 percent of plastic packaging is recycled by appropriate
route there has been partnering with refill UK for providing of free drinking water to increase the
customers willing to refill their won bottles(Boesen, Bey and Niero, 2019) .
It is a very crucial because of the increasing world population has dramatically affected the food
production. So there comes an urgent need to focus on computable products for developing a win
solution(Meherishi, Narayana and Ranjani, 2019) . Eco friendly packaging is becoming more exciting
because of the inspiring packaging designers across different parts of the world that is ranging from
store bought products to take out the very food. Eco friendly packaging is very important to assist
the internal environment. Different organizations across the world are releasing that there is need to
reduce the impact of trash on the planet. If the trash is it biodegrade then it may lead to long term
problem. If there will be non-friendly packaging then it will lead to negative impact on the overall
environment it may lead to no proper functioning of external environment (What Are the
Environmental Impacts of Product Packaging?, 2018 ).

Research Methodology (Approach, Design, Data collection and analysis technique, etc.)
Research design: It is related with the overall strategy that is selected for the purpose of integration
of various component of study that has to be in a more logical and coherent way. It ensures that there
is addressing of research problem that is related with blueprint of collecting, measurement and
further analysis of data. Qualitative form of data is related to descriptive and a type of data that is
regarding a phenomena that has to be observed and not measured. Different techniques like grounded
theory, thematic analysis or content analysis for the purpose of analysing the collected information.
Quantitative form of data is related with informing about numbers and is more about quantities that are
described in numerical form (Leavy, 2017). Quantitative data is based on use of numerical form of
information for the purpose of achieving the laid aims and objectives of the research. Mixed method is
used for the purpose of having a mixed approach of both qualitative and quantitative form of data in order
to reach to relevant conclusions. In the present research report there will be application of both qualitative
and quantitative form of information as there will be use of mixed method (Saunders’ Research Onion:
Explained Simply, 2021).
Data collection method: There Different techniques of collecting m data that includes surveys ,focus
