1. Introduction to the research topic, including a background
In current time, there is trends towards the use of electric vehicle. Major reason form
increasing trend of electric vehicle is related their positive impact to environment (Deb, 2018).
This report will include discussion about different factors, these are Description of Literature and
Data, Methodology, Summary of Literature and Data, Evaluation of the relevance and
Reflections.
Research Aim
The aim of this research is “To analyse the benefits of rising popularity of electric
vehicles in the UK”. A case study on Volkswagen.
Objectives
 To understand the concept of electric vehicles.
 To ascertain the challenges faced by Volkswagen while manufacturing electric vehicles
in United Kingdom.
 To analyse the impact of electric vehicles built by Volkswagen on natural environment of
United Kingdom.
Background
The current study will be based on discussion about the benefits of rising popularity of
electric vehicles in the UKPopularity of electric vehicles is increasing continually as in present
time focus is shifting towards environment friendly methods (Aarstad and Kvitastein, 2020).
This leads in changing mind set of individuals towards electric vehicles. This also give rise to
number of challenges which are faced by firm while manufacturing electric vehicles. This study
is based on Volkswagen. It is a British multinational business firm which is selling vehicles in
UK and global world.
2. Description of Literature and Data
Understand the concept of electric vehicles
According to Moses (2020), revealed that Electronic vehicles mainly functions with the
help of plugging into the charging point and use electricity. For electric vehicles, company use
rechargeable batteries so that all the electric vehicles use electricity and power form that. There
are various kinds of electric vehicles consider by the company such as plug-in electric, plug-in

hybrid, hybrid-electric etc. those vehicles use electricity are knowing as Pure electric vehicles
and those vehicles use petrol or diesel are called as hybrid electric vehicles. There are various
types of inner part of electric vehicles like electric engine, inverter, drivetrain, batteries and
charging. With the help of three pin plug, socketed and tethered, anyone can charge electric
vehicles.
The challenges faced by Volkswagen while manufacturing electric vehicles in United
Kingdom
According to Schwanen (2019), defined that there are various challenges of electric
vehicles that company facing during the manufacturing time. It is analysed that sales of electric
vehicles improving day by day but company also facing many challenges in the production
process of the electric vehicles. There are many challenges identified in United Kingdom such as
change take time, limited choice, backing right technology, zero carbon fantasy etc. all these
challenges mainly experienced by the Volkswagen company which can affect the production
process and also give adverse impact in the whole manufacturing of the electric vehicles.
The impact of electric vehicles built by Volkswagen on natural environment of United
Kingdom
According to Hensley , Knupfer and Pinner (2018), explained that demand of electric
vehicles become high and it is estimated that by the 2030 electric vehicles could rise more than
20 percent sales globally. So increased level of electric vehicles will affect the natural resources
and environment of the country and carbon emission level also increase with this. To protect the
environment is one of the priority of the companies so that they can decrease the level of carbon
emission. Electric vehicles do not easily spell peak oil and high level of electric vehicles sale will
useful to decline the battery costs and companies can work to expand the level of battery
capacity. Electric vehicles will help to produce low level of emission as compared other
resources like petrol and gasoline powered vehicles so it can be said that electric vehicles can
give positive impact on the environment.
3. Methodology – process used to select the literature and data
Methodology can be defining as that function in business firm which is related to use of
effective methods in order to perform the research in appropriate direction (Guiton and Finlay,
2020). In current study, there is use of appropriate research methodology which helps in

evaluating different sources and collection data in order to imprint literature review and other
essential parts of research. Some of the important aspect of methodology are discussed below:

In order to collect data and perform the research in effective way there is use of appropriate
process. This process in associated to use of online sources for conducting activity related to
literature review.

In order to conduct their literature review in effective way and collect data there is use of
google Chrome (Kapustin and Grushevenko, 2020). This is a search engine which is owned and
run by google which include number of linked and articles related to the selected topic .
What search phrases you used?
Search phrases can be defining as common terms which are used by the researcher in
order to collect data from different search engines. These are helps full in collecting required
data and performing the research in effective way. In current study, electric vehicles and
Volkswagen are the major key phrases which are used by the researcher.
What was your inclusion and exclusion criteria?
Inclusion criteria can be characterising as that prospective subject which must be
included in the study (Kester, 2020). On the other side, Exclusion criteria can be defining as
those characteristics that disqualified prospective subject from the inclusion in study. Under
present study, all those articles which are related to topic and provide relevant information will
be used.
What are ethical concerns related to research?
In current research there are number of ethical concerns which can be use by the researcher
in order to conduct the research in effective way and perform task according to it (Melchiorre,
2018). In present study, there are three major issues which are consider by the researcher. These
are Informed consent, Beneficence- Do not harm and Respect for anonymity and confidentiality.
4. Summary of Literature and Data
There are different sources of data which can be used by the researcher in order to conduct
the research in effective way. This can be evaluated from the above literature review that the
concept of electric vehicles is very vast. According to view point of Moses (2020), this can be
seen that electric vehicles will act as future of business work as well as automobile market. this is

increasing in current time due to its benefits in improving environment conditions and using
renewable sources of energy. Here according to views of Hensley , Knupfer and Pinner (2018),
there are number of benefits which can be used by the firm by using electric vehicles. In case of
Volkswagen, firm is also, focusing its shift towards the use of electric vehicles in business. This
will help company in surviving in the market and acting as a major compotator for business
firms.
According to thoughts of Schwanen (2019), there are large number of opportunities to
business firms dealing in the market of electric vehicle. This helps in meeting standards related
to environment as use of electric vehicles will help in reducing pollution in natural environment.
Here, there are some contrasting thoughts of these thoughts are related to problems which are
faced by the electric vehicle manufacturing firm in UK. Thera are number of issues which are
faced by these firm and include in cost of these products, change take time, limited choice,
backing right technology and zero carbon fantasy. According to authors these are some colleges
which can act negatively on the changes of business function and have to be managed in order to
achieve better results. This can be seen that that there are number of function under this which
have to be evaluated in order to meet needs. On the other side, according to evaluation made by
Hensley, Knupfer and Pinner (2018), some of the major benefits is that “Electric vehicles will
help to produce low level of emission as compared other resources like petrol and gasoline
powered vehicles” these benefits are useful for business firm in dealing with number of
challenges as well boost profitably. This can also have evaluated that Higher EV sales will help
reduce battery costs, with major battery manufacturers racing to expand capacity. At the same
time, EV growth will put pressure on the costs of crucial battery inputs, including cobalt and
lithium. This all will help in meeting demands and performing effectively in market where firm
can have focused of profitability.
This can be concluded from the above ligature review that there are number of issues which
are faced by the firm manufacturing electric vehicles. But on the other side, this is also seen that
there are number of changes which are benefited for business firm. These changes are beneficial
as well as capable of covering all the changes which are faced in manufacturing of electric
vehicles. This states that Volkswagen is gaining from this perspective and it will help in
achieving better market of electric vehicles.

researcher in order to conduct the researcher in effective way (Morgan, 2020). Under this, there

6. Reflections on your own learning during research
It is a privilege that I have given the opportunity to conduct this research. The topic is so
interesting and important to study. Due to raising pollution the need for electric vehicles is
enhancing. Along with that various challenges are faced due to pollution. I developed good
knowledge about the need of electronic vehicles and the way they are impacting the society.
There comparison with the traditional vehicles. This research has helped me to gain more
confidence by enhancing my knowledge related to a new topic. It was time consuming as various
sources were used to complete the research. Many books, journals and papers were read to draw
a conclusion. Also this helped me to learn about different methods of research and when they are
used. This will help me in future while conducting further research. I have developed good
understanding of the concepts. I also analyzed that it is right time to switch to electronic vehicles
die to rising problems caused by traditional once. Also There are various challenges and
hindrances in the path of manufacturing these vehicles as people do not accept change easily. It
is popular and required by the people. Also this research helped to understand the concept and
working of electric vehicles.
