Introduction
According to the numerous researches and their results it is found that in the year of
2019, 51.51 % of the internet traffic are recorded from the mobile devices that have smaller
screen size. As the smart phones and other mobile devices provides the capability of using the
internet on the go, users prefer to use these mobile devices frequently rather than desktops
(Kumar 2018). In order to provide better view of the served contents the websites need to be
responsive according to the user’s device.
Therefore, developing websites responsive with the usable interfaces that makes sure the
continuity of the content available on the websites provides uniform feeling to the users among
the different platforms with different screen size and capabilities.
The report contributes to the analysis of the website https://www.awm.gov.au/ with
respect to principles of the responsive web design, different features required recommendation
for the aspects that are not present in the selected site. Furthermore, the website is tested using
simulation tools in order to determine the quality of the website.
Review and evaluation
Positive aspects of the site
In the analysis process of the above-mentioned site, it is found that, the website uses
Media specific CSS on its pages in order to place the content on the devices of different mobile
devices in a uniform way. Therefore, in this way the website becomes optimized for browsing on
any kind of device with different screen sizes.
Furthermore, the website addresses or the URLs are consistent throughout its different
pages. This is considered as an excellent practice that helps the website to rank better in the
search engine placement, usability of the website.
Pages of the website found to have consistent page titles for different pages. The
Page titles are considered as important for having a good ranking and appear high in the search
results. The titles are available on the top of browser window while visiting the pages of the site
(Kumar 2018). With the proper page titles the search engine optimization becomes easy for the
site.
As most of the users try to find out the required information from a web page faster and
with the minimal time in which the Headings play a major role thus having the Headings also
improves the user experience even on the mobile devices. For the selected page, all of its pages
are found to be using well defined headings for different sections (Wiener, Ekholm and
Haller 2017). This is a great feature as the visitors as well as the search engines will be able to
summarize web page contents quickly. With the correctly defined headings on the pages the
website helps in improving the accessibility and as well as search engine optimization for the
website for better reachability to the users.
In the analysis of the page the browser caching is also used by the website in order to
provide a better user experience by storing and reusing the webpage resource files on computer
locally when a user visits any webpage of the related website (Wiener, Ekholm and Haller 2017).
