1REVIEW OF THE SYSTEM Review of logic model The logic model shows the functioning units needed to prevent the medication errors with the help of information technology. The initial goal of this system is to implement the medical information system in the organization and providing proper knowledge among the staffs. These short-term and medium-term goals eventually leads to achieve the long term goal which is prevention of medical errors. As input, the staffing is needed to be done in separate teams. Apart from that each team is needed to be provided with proper training stuffs like training materials, projectors, information manual and space for demonstrative learning (Zhang et al.,2013). The training can be given on the bar coded data entry, usage of tele medicine software, maintaining the health record software andprovidingpatientfriendlyservices.Duringtheimplementationofthesystemthe communication with the stakeholders are important to be maintained. There are two goals included in the logic models with outputs respectively. The first goal is to enhance the use of knowledgeamongtheemployeesandthestakeholdersanduseofthesafemedication administrations. The second goal is about the mitigation of the medication errors and the use of technology to achieve the goal. Review of Change proposal It has been seen that in the recent time there is an increase in medication errors.Apart from that there raises an unpredictability in the cost of the medicines. All these things are making the patients suspicious about the entire health care system (Radley et al.,2013). This also causes the negative customer feedback outcome from the patients. In order to improve the entire system there is a need for implementation of new technology. Apart from that in the proposal there is a
2REVIEW OF THE SYSTEM mention for the need of funding for the implementation of new technology for health care system. Initiation Model In order to implement the information system, computerized physician order system can be implemented. This will help in enhancing the decision making ability in the health care informationsystem.Thesystemwillincludeautomatedreductionofdispensingerrors, medication errors. Apart from that bar code implementation can be helpful for the minimization of the errors. However, implementation of the system is not enough for the conduction of proper health care management. There should be fair deal communication between the different stakeholders involved in the system. With the use of proper communication and implementation the medication error can be reduced by 54% (Kachalia & Bates,2014). The communication is needed to be done before and after the implementation of the systems in the organizations. Dissemination plan The change in the system through the implementation of the project will affect the flow of information both internally and externally. Externally, the patients will get advantage from the change in the system. The patients can keep their record in the health information system in a proper way. Apart from that the medical records can be shared among the hospital and medical authorities. Apart from that the medication errors can be prevented. This will help the patients to receive the right kind of treatment. Internally, the hospitals and the medical organizations can manage the medication data properly. Apart from that the distribution of the right drugs at right place can be happened
3REVIEW OF THE SYSTEM through this system. This will bring down the fatal effects of wrong drugs (Keers et al.,2013). The overall patient safety will improve. From the discussion the benefits of using technology in the medication system it can be said that both the health care organizations and patients are getting benefitted by the implementation of the system. After the implementation of the system in a proper way, the benefit can be achieved through distribution of the proper drugs to the right persons and effective management of the data and information.
