2DISSERTATIONAbstractManaging of risks and safety in an event is one of the most important things, as it helps inplanning out the event in a proper manner. This helps the event management team tometiculously plan out the structures so that any type of risks can be mitigated when the eventis being held on a particular date. Safety, security and managing the risks of an event are acollaborative and complex process that needs to be done with the combination of differentexperts belonging to various fields so that the environment where the event will be help canbe safe and secure. The primary purpose of this research would be to understand the safetyand risk issues with the perspective of the venue managers and event planners that are presentwithin the British industry and particularly in UKME. the researcher has used positivismphilosophy, deductive approach, and descriptive research design and interview researchstrategy. The researcher has used convenience sampling technique for selecting 3 eventmanagers of UKME as interviewee. Considering the above-mentioned methods, theresearcher has used primary data collection technique and qualitative data analysistechniques. it can be concluded that risk while organizing events are very common and safetyand security measures need to be undertaken appropriately for mitigating the potential risks.This research aim towards recognizing the present practices conducted in the event industryin terms of safety and security. Understanding the phenomenon provides an opportunity forthe event planners to set necessary benchmarks to risk and safety aspects followed bydetermining appropriate risk assessment and risk management strategies later on.

7DISSERTATIONChapter 1: Introduction1.0 Research backgroundManaging of risks and safety in an event is one of the most important things, as ithelps in planning out the event in a proper manner. This helps the event management team tometiculously plan out the structures so that any type of risks can be mitigated when the eventis being held on a particular date (Glendon, Clarke and McKenna 2016). The UnitedKingdom holds many events in a particular year through different event managementcompanies so that it can help the programs to be successful in nature. This has helped thecountry to draw more number of audiences towards the programs so that the ticket sales canbe increased thereby increasing the level of profit as well (Kristiansen 2013). During my stintin a renowned event management company known as UKME, I was able to understand thatthe organization takes utmost measures so that it can address the issues that are related to riskand safety. It is done by involving different parties so that the main areas can be investigatedon a priority basis. However, from the work within the organization, I have seen that there areno specific tactics or minimum requirements that can help in mitigating the risks that maytake place during an event. The organization keeps everything in place so that on the outbreakof a risk, it can be managed in a proper manner (Modarres 2016). 1.1 Event management introductionThe concept of festivals and events within a country helps in promoting the factor oftourism along with the development of the region since the period of 1990. This is due to thefact that the event industry is global in nature and acts as a generator for tourism between thecountries and the place where the event is being held (Van Der Wagen ad White 2018). In therecent times, it can be seen that most of the events are being held by the skilled and trainedprofessionals so that any kind of risks can be mitigated within the event. The use of extensive
