This report aims to find the various ways by which the racism can be eradicated in the country of Australia and how the Australians can find various ways to make sure that both Aboriginals and the white skinned people of the country can share the country equally without any kind of racism and discrimination.

Executive Summary
Racism is a serious issue which is being faced by the country of Australia in the
modern times. The racism in this case is mostly directed against the indigenous people of the
country and their children which includes the Aboriginals and The Torres Strait Islanders in
the country itself.
This report aims to find the various ways by which the racism can be eradicated in the
country of Australia and how the Australians can find various ways to make sure that both
Aboriginals and the white skinned people of the country can share the country equally
without any kind of racism and discrimination.

Introduction
The issue of racism is not new to the world itself. The origins of racism can be
terraced back to the start of the civilization itself. Racism usually happens when the people if
a particular society or a particular civilization usually look down upon people of different
culture or civilizations. This might be because of the feeling of superiority based on race,
caste, creed or the colour of the skin of the individuals. This is similar in the case of
Australia which is stated to be one of the most racist counties in the world itself. The origin
of the racism in Australia can be traced back to the arrival of the white people in the country
who disposed the indigenous people of the country of their lands. In the modern times, the
indigenous and the Aboriginals of the country face a lot of racism from the white skinned
people. This is mostly suffered by the children of the Aboriginals and the indigenous people
in the country. The children of these countries face severe racism in schools and colleges and
they do not get even half the rights as the white people. This report will aim to find out the
types of racism which is being faced by the people of Australia itself. It will also aim to
understand the reasons behind the racism and the various ways in which the racism can be
prevented in the country.
Discussion
Instances of Racism
The indigenous people of the country of Australia have been facing racism form the
beginning of the times. This dates back to the time when the white people first came to
Australia. It is said by the experts that since that time, the Aboriginal and the Torres Strait
Islander face continue to face the issues of racism even to this day (Bodkin Andrews,2013).
This is mostly felt by the children of these Aboriginals and the Torres Strait Islanders in the
country. The children of these communities are said to be the most vulnerable of all. This is

because of the fact the children are sent to study in the same schools and the colleges that the
children from the white families are being sent to study themselves.
It is at the schools and the colleges that the children belonging to the Aboriginal and
the Torres Strait Islander people face extreme racism form the white people themselves. This
includes in some case the Aboriginal children not being allowed to share the same classroom
as the white skinned people in the country (Dominelli, 2017). In most cases, the Aboriginal
children of the country are beaten by the white students while they are not being helped by
the school authorities themselves. In addition to this, the children of these categories are not
even given the basic rights which the white people of the country would enjoy. These
includes the Aboriginal children not being allowed to share the same libraries or the
playground and common room as the white people of the country itself. This is because of the
fact that the white skinned people of the country do not want the Aboriginal and the Torres
Strait Islanders to be a part of the same classroom as the white people themselves. The main
reason for this is the fact that the white people of the country feel that they are superior than
those of the Aboriginals and the Torres Strait Islanders in the country due to the availability
of the knowledge and the technology and the resources to them. This they feel makes them
much better and superior than that of the Aboriginals in the country itself. This ultimately
leads to the Aboriginals and the Torres Strait Islanders facing various discriminations in the
country itself.
Other Cases of Racism
Apart from the field of education, there are also other areas in which also the
Aboriginals and the Torres Strait Islanders face severe racism and discrimination in the
country itself. These includes the field of health and the public rights of the country. It has
been noted that the children of the country, who are of an Aboriginal or the Torres Strait

background, face cases of discrimination and racism more than the people of the other
cultures in the country itself.
This racism in terms of health can be seen in the ways in which the Aboriginals and
the Torres Island Strait people and their children are denied access into those areas which are
restricted for the white people of the country themselves. Moreover, in addition to this, it can
also be said that these people would not even be provided the best amount of treatment as are
provided to the white people of the country itself. Even the prices of the medicines are made
to be more expensive than they normally are (Browne et.all, 2013). As a result of this, the
Aboriginals and the Torres Strait Islanders do not get the required medicine that they would
need for the purpose of treating diseases and illness. This leads to them suffering from
various types of illnesses which causes a large number of deaths among the Aboriginal
communities of Australia.
In addition to this, the other problems which are being faced by the Aboriginals
children in relation to their health is the lack of ways of treatment as well as the addiction to
various kinds of drugs and other substance abuses by themselves. It is worth noting in this
case, that the Aboriginals and the Torres Strait Islanders and their children are known to
indulge in various kinds of addiction themselves. The parents not only indulge themselves in
such kinds of addictions but also involve their children in such activities themselves. As a
result of this, the children belonging to the Aboriginal backgrounds gets encouraged to
indulge in such activities themselves (Bodkin Andrews, 2014). This ultimately affects the
health of such children. The time ultimately comes when the children are no longer able to
resist such addictions and they ultimately turn into subjects of drug and alcohol abuse
themselves. In this situation, when these children visit the hospitals or the rehab centres, they
are unable to pay for the medicines themselves because of the price. This ultimately proves to
be harmful for the health of these people because it affects their health and causes various

kinds of problems for them. That is why it is being said that the children face a lot of
problems in relation to the health and well-being in Australia (Dominelli, 2013).
The final area where these children face racism in the country is the area of the
fundamental rights. In this case, it is seen that the fundamental rights of the white skinned
people of Australia are more than those of the rights of the Aboriginals and their children
themselves. This is evidenced by the ways in which the Aboriginal and the Torres Strait
Islanders and children are restricted from entering certain areas of the country. In addition to
this, the children of these background also do not get to exercise much of their rights in the
field of politics and in other areas themselves. The white skinned people of the country gets
to enjoy most of the rights themselves (Bodkin-Andrews,2013). This leads to the people from
the Aboriginal and the Torres Strait Islander children being deprived of the various rights
which they claim they should they have for themselves. This leads to the various protests
form the Aboriginal and the Torres Strait Islander people that them and their children do not
get to enjoy their rights and their duties as much as enjoyed by the white skinned people of
the country themselves. Thus, all these factors can be considered to be various kinds of
racism committed against the children of the Aboriginal or the Torres Strait Islanders in the
country of Australia itself.
Reasons of Racism
There are various reasons for the white skinned people of Australia hating on the
Aboriginals and the Torres Strait Islanders and their children in the country itself. Firstly, it is
because of the colour of the skin of these people. Even in the ancient times, the indigenous
natives of the country were forcefully dispossessed of their land by the white skinned
Australians in the country itself. This is because of the fact that the white skinned people are
of the opinion that they are the ones who had brought civilization into the country
themselves. Therefore, these white skinned people of the country are of the opinion that they

should be considered superior to the natives, indigenous and the Aboriginals in the country
itself (Walton et. all, 2013).
Furthermore, the white skinned people of the country are afraid of the fact that the
Aboriginals and the Torres Strait Islanders of the country should be restricted with the rights
so that these people do not get more facilities than them. This is because if this happens, then
the indigenous people of the country would become more powerful than the white people of
the country (Dominelli, 2014). This is also the reason why these people do not want their
children studying with the Aboriginals and the Torres Strait Islander children in the country
themselves.
This can also be said to be true in case of the health and the rights of the children in
the country itself. This can be said the white skinned people of the country of the do not the
indigenous people and especially their children enjoying good health and rights in the country
itself. It is because of such reasons that the Aboriginal and the children from the indigenous
people of the county suffer so many racism and discrimination in the country itself.
Role of Media in Understanding Racism in Australia
There are a number of ways by which the Australian media can play important role in
the understanding of the racism and the discrimination in the country itself (Walton et. all,
2013). The first of these is the social media which is considered to be a vital source for the
indigenous Australians in the country. It is through the use of the social media in the country
that these people can raise the issue of racism which their children face in the schools and in
colleges themselves (Browne Zung, 2014). The social media will help the people to know
about the problems faced by the aboriginal children in the country itself. In addition, to this,
the newspapers, tablets and the other media can also play an important role in the country.

In addition to this, it can be said that the televisions can play the most important role
in this process regarding the method of creating awareness in the country itself (Bodkin et.
all, 2014). The television can be used to convey the various demands and the requests made
by the Aboriginals and the Torres Islanders regarding the problems of the racism and the
discrimination which is being faced by them in the country itself. In addition to this, the
television can also play an important role in conducting various interviews of the families of
the children who have faced such cases of racism and discrimination themselves in the
country. In addition to this, other media platforms like radio can also inform people about the
problems faced by the indigenous children in the country of Australia itself (Bennett, 2013).
This can help people to be aware about the situations being faced by the indigenous people in
the country itself. It will also people to present their problems to the people of the country.
Conclusion
Thus, from the above discussions, it can be stated that the racism is indeed a serious
issue in the way it is affecting the Aboriginals and the Torres Strait Islanders and their
children in the country itself. These people and their children should be granted the equal
opportunities by the Government of the country and steps should be taken to make sure that
the problem of racism can be eradicated form the country itself. This will lead to both the
white skinned and the Aboriginal children enjoying equal rights in the country of Australia.
