Role of Individual Performance Objectives in Performance Planning_1

Individual performance objectives refer to the outcomes, results and level of performance
been expected from the employees while working at particular job position. Through this, value
and significance of job is defined that assist in evaluating the work done by employees in given
period of time. It also defines the target that need to be achieved by the individual in a set
duration. Performance objective is always defining in measurable, specific, realistic, attainable
and in time bound terms which helps the employees to justify his/her work within the
organisation. It plays a significant role in performance planning (Becom and Insler, 2013). Based
on objectives, set goal is determined for organisation and individual both which can be attained
by defining approach performance parameters.
Objectives acts as a guiding path through which employees can act to attain the same.
Beside this, performance objectives help in developing strategy which can be followed by
employees to achieve it. From this, deviation from key motive get reduced and hence company is
able to lead towards correct direction. Also, individual performance objective helps in
determining minimum qualification and competencies of employees so that they can be required
as per requirement and hence can perform in required manner. Moreover, objectives act as a
target which employees tries to achieve through their performance (Aguinis, 2012). However,
performance planning can identify the deviation in it and hence corrective measures can be
employed accordingly. Based on this discussion, it is evident that individual performance
objectives support in developing path for performance planning.
