Information technology refers as an application in context of business, which offers the

study, it can be identified that IT plays crucial role in the modern aspects of business that will
increase the productivity and profitability of organization. with increasing the technological
progress in the organization that needed to implement the network technologies for data
transmission. Although, these types of technologies are used to improve the existing structure of
organization for controlling and maintaining the information. Furthermore, it has been
summarised that the ethical and social issues that applicable in the business. In this report, it has
been determined the specific role of information technology in both failure and success of
business, where it has been analysing the of internet and intranet in the business because it helps
for managing the communication between one or more networks. However, it briefly analyses
different stages of system development life cycle in system development.

INTRODUCTION
Information technology is a type of application that can use to retrieve, store and manipulate
the data or information. In the context of business, Information technology is subset of data in
terms of communication technology. It also encompasses with other type of distribution
technologies such as television. IT plays crucial role in the modern aspects of business that will
increase the productivity and profitability of organization. Direct Line group is an insurance
company which is located in UK. The organization was formed in 2012 by The Royal bank of
Scotland. It provides the different types of products such as roadside assistance, direct line and
green flag etc.
This report will discuss about the role of information technology in both failure and success
of business. it discusses about the ethical and social issues that applicable in the organization. It
will discuss about the significance of internet and intranet in the enterprises because it helps for
establishing the communication between one device to another. Furthermore, it will explain the
different stages of system development life cycle for purpose to design an efficient system. It
will also differentiate and identify the different types of network technologies.

will use for communication purpose between employees and customers. It is also considered as
the drivers of internet which providing inexpensive communication.
Therefore, but its failure due to increase the voice traffic during data transmission.
Sometimes, it also increases the security issues regarding data losing. Information technology is
an advancement in term of communication but it also generates security issues when multiple
