selected as the area of practice. While studying on this area of practice it was found out that
effective communication in the classroom acts as motivation for the students or learners (Hussein
2015). This topic was chosen because it is an emerging area in the field of education and need to
be focused. Moreover, communication forms the basis of relationship among the teachers and
learners; therefore, it needs to be researched upon for improvement.

3. Understand ways to do research
3.1 Evaluate methods for research
For evaluating the research process that had focused on the ‘role of mass media in
communication’ there should be utilization of authentic and reliable data. The researcher had
been very careful while conducting his research because his look out was the willingness of the
participants in the process. There are certain factors such as biased information from the

provided by the respondents. The quantitative data was based on the number of respondents and
the rate of their response to the particular questions. Participant observation was also considered
in this research to find out the acceptance of the topic among them. The methods used for data
collection was also helpful in gathering a relevant conclusion of the issue.

3.3 Methods of data analysis
Statistical analysis was used to put together the quantitative data that was collected from
the participants. There were more than one methods used to collect data to keep a parity because
depending on only one source does not give a valid proof (Niederkrotenthaler et al. 2014). That
is why both primary and secondary data were collected in order to maintain the authenticity. The
data analysis was done by identifying the variables such as the issues in education and those
were related to the objective of the research to find the importance of mass media in education.
Triangulation method was used in the analysis of the research question from multiple points of

particular topic. This reading helped him to describe the process of action research by relating to
his own course of work.

4.2 Selected methods
Among the different options available for action research, quantitative analysis can be
considered perfect, as there are a number of factors that need to be taken into account (Orkin
2014). The reason behind selecting quantitative analysis is that it is responsible for gathering
accurate data without any scope of biasness from the participants. This is because the occurrence
of biasness is more in qualitative analysis. There is not much scope of biasness in quantitative
analysis as it deals with number and graphs, which is accurate and authentic. Qualitative data
was selected to shed light upon the verbal words spoken by the respondents. The responses were
tallied with the previous literature by the research to find out any similarity or difference.

4.5 Data presentation
The collected data was presented in different forms. The interviews and group discussions

participants were analyzed and presented in the form of graphs and statistics. The numerical
presentation was accurate to decimal points and portrayed in percentage form. This correct
calculation helped in determining a proper conclusion for the research topic (Silverman 2015).
4.6 Conclusion
It can be concluded from this research that mass media is important in the field of education.
As per the interview session with the teachers and the learners, it was clear that they were ready
to accept the change by using the tools of mass communication.
5. Research outcome
5.1 Own findings and conclusion
The researcher had also come to the same conclusion that it is a good idea to change as per
the contemporary needs of the society. With the use of mass media in education the opportunity
for the learners will increase to gain insight about the issues surrounding them.
5.2 Recommendation
Thus, it can be recommended at the end of the research that change should be implemented
by introducing mass media in the field of education. Relevant questions were set up but there
could have been more questions to extract detailed information from the participants. Moreover,

the number of samples could be increased in order to work on a wide range of data. This would
be beneficial in drawing a valid conclusion after researching on a broad area and considering
several other ways.
6. Practice evaluation
6.1 Effectiveness of own practice compared to action research
The researcher had focused on his own skills while conducting this study. He has
mentioned that he need to develop himself more in the field of research from next time in order
to do the work more accurately. He has also stated that he should have allotted more time in
doing the research work. Due to lack of time he could not gather data from a wide range of
sources which was a loophole in the research work. Moreover he was unable to invest time in
constructing some more questions which would enable in extracting more information from the
participants. Apart from that, he needed to be more specific in the area of research and the issues
that were attached to it.
6.2 Own strengths and areas of improvement
The researcher has very clearly stated his strengths and weakness, which are summarized
below-

The researcher was able to choose a very good topic which was approved at one go.
There were ample of information available and that is why gathering data was not a problem.
