INTRODUCTIONSafeguarding in health as well as social care is very much important as this mean toprotect individual and certain group of individual due to their vulnerability to mistreatment aswell as injury to individual and else (Andrews, O'Neill and Petch, 2015). There is most part ofworld where abuse is regularly taking place which sum up to having citizen who would becommonly regarded to as victim of abuse. It is the right of each individual in deserving betterplace to live within safe environment that is away from harm and thus making their safeguardingtoo much important.This particular report will be following the group of individual which is vulnerable toabuse or harm to other or self, finding out reason behind it. With this risk factor that is leading toincident of abuse will also be included and consequence of societal and cultural factor of variouskinds of mistreatment will also be covered. This report is based on Baby P and WinterbourneView Hospital which is related to abuse to eight months who has suffered more than 50 injuries. LO 11.1 Why particular group of individual are vulnerable to abuse by othersVulnerable group of individual is that who are not able to cope or resist and recover fromany sort of impact of disaster or natural calamity like that of pregnant women, children, elderlypeople and malnourished people as well (Dickinson and O'Flynn, 2016). But rather everyone ishaving complete right to live in safe and free form neglect or abuse environment which couldoccur at any point of time. Like in the case provided where Baby P was found vulnerable offacing abuse and harm by his mother and her boyfriend which led to death of child. Baby P hassuffered abuse from 50 injuries. It was analysed that child are the most vulnerable group amongall stated as they are not having any knowledge about what is wrong or right. They are not awareof things or situation where other are harming or abusing them. As in the given case Baby P isjust 17 month old having no knowledge about abuse by his own mother and step-father. Withthis in 2008 Owen and Barker were found guilty of causing or allowing death of vulnerableperson or child.This is the part of child abuse which means psychological, sexual or physical abuse ofchild by parent or other relative as they are considered to as vulnerable group of individuals. It isalso included that children are included under vulnerable group who are been abused or harmedby others is because they are not able to stop someone else from hurting them. There are many1

factors which is cause of abuse of vulnerable people like that of physical disability, mental healthproblems, old age, learning disability or frailty (Dimond, 2016). Other than this all people orindividual who are considered to as weak would be key target of these abusers to larger extent.There are many types of abuse such as physical, sexual, emotional, mental etc. Physical abuse means that many of people are thought of when they hear word abuse. Itincludes punching, slapping, kicking and strangling etc.Sexual mistreatment can be kind of physical abuse. It can involve both physical and non-physical elements. Also, it can include rape or other forces of sexual activity.2
