INTRODUCTION
In the health and social care organisation, safety and protection of employees, patients
and other staff members is very important by which they can stay there safe and secure manner.
In this aspect, safeguarding is one of the essential techniques that assists individuals by
protecting human health, well-being of individuals and young people so that they can live in the
society without any harm and abuse. Safeguarding is mostly used for protect the rights of
children, adults and teenagers who are suffering from abuse, negligence in the society. In order
to provide effective protection and rights, UK government has developed several sorts of
legislation, practices and policies that prevent individuals from mental and physical harm. The
current report is based on various legislation and policies which provide protection and security
to children, teenagers and adults in community so that they will not suffer from harm.
Furthermore, risk factors which may lead to incidence of abuse and harm has also been discussed
in this assignment.

1.1 Explanation about why particular individuals and groups may be vulnerable to abuse and
harm to self and others
As per the case study, the person who depend on other, specifically elder people and child are get
to be major targets by abusers in the community, because they are totally helpless in the society.
They can not stop abuser to hurting helpless persons in the communities and they take the
advantage of this situation effectively (Bernard, 2013). As per the case, the 17 months old baby
was founded in his cot 48 hour after a doctor failed to sop the child's severe injuries, involving a
broken spine. The baby was on Haringey Council's child protection register throughout eight
months of abuse I which he suffered more than 50 injuries. Many of which is missed by P's
doctor, social worker and the police as well. According to department of health, adults vulnerable
to abuse are described that as the people who has the age of 18 and above in the country, the
might require to community care facilities effectively in case of absence of their parents and
other mental disorder disease people as well (Brand, 2012). The child is unable to take care
themselves they needed to given care by social safeguards within the communities effectively in
order to live sustainable life in their lives. Moreover, vulnerable adult involves person as victims
of internal violence, homeless persons, drug addicted persons and some of other prostitutes
individual in the community. These peoples are under pressure in order to bear such kind of
abuses in the community efficiently. Individuals and groups are vulnerable to such kinds of
abuses to due to many elements in the community. These elements' inclusion of acquisition
disabilities, physical disabilities' and some major body part losses' person. Mental disable
persons and old age and children. Because of their disabilities, they get to targeted by abuser to
get badly treated in the society.

1.3 Analysis about the impact of social and cultural components on various types of abuse and
harm to self and others
Social and social variables assume a critical part in advancing human rights. Social and cultural include convictions, state of
mind, religion, dialect and so forth. There are such large number of sorts of manhandle which happen; Physical, mental, sexual,
liquor and medication mishandle. Social and social variables makes positive and negative effect (Clark, 2011).. Because of social
contrast, patients don't get legitimate treatment in mind benefit focuses. He or she needs to confront segregation. So it makes
adverse effect on mental level of endured people. Social variables include social avoidance, absence of help, destitution that may

knowledge so as they can learn something about it. Culture and background of the person always support then to overcome the
bad habits and harms. By social values, cultural value, background etc people can easily overcome the impact of bad habits and
abuse.

In the society, there is continuously increasing the abuses and harm in the society. In
order to keep protect and secure people from harm and abuses, UK government have developed
several kinds of legislation and policies that help to adult and children from abuse. There are
some strength and weakness of these mentioned legislation and policies which are discussed
below- The care standard act 2000: The major strength of this legislation is that it provides high
quality of care services and protection to service users in an organisation. The health care
experts and professionals in the health and care organisation have to follow this care
standard legislation by which they have to deliver high quality of care services to patient
according to their requirement and health issues. However, the major weakness is related
with finance as in order to deliver high quality of care services and treatment,
management require sufficient funds. If health care organisation have insufficient fund
then it is quite difficult for the health experts to provide high quality of care services. Mental capacity act 2005- This kind of legislation is developed for the mental health
patient. It is applied for such health experts and doctors who handle the patient of mental
disorder. As per this legislation, it is the great duty and responsibility of health experts
and doctors to follow mental capacity legislation and deliver effective mental services
and care to patient of mental disorder. The major weakness of this legislation is that local

health care organisation and centre is still not followed this legislation so that sometime
doctors avoid handling the mental disable patient and treat them in effective manner. Child protection policy- This legislation have major advantage that it helps to children in
protect themselves from the abuse and harms. It encourages the effectiveness and well-
being of children and protect them from many types of abuse. However, it has weakness
is that it does not strictly follow by the doctors within health and care organisation.
 Sexual offence act 2003- In the United kingdom, it is legislation which is developed in
parliament. It assists individuals who are sexually harassed by someone.
2.2 Explanation about how key professional delivers the care and protection to individual and
vulnerable to abuse
Health care experts and professionals play a crucial role within health and social care
organisation. They have several kinds of roles and responsibilities towards the patient’s
treatment and their care services. Health professionals have also responsibility to provide proper
guidance and care to that person in society who suffer from the abuses. In the health and care
organisation, there are various health professionals who can protect individuals. These are: Social workers-These kinds of person are those experts who prevent people from harm
and abuse. They fight for the wrongful act and provide rights by taking legal action
against the wrong person and help to the victim who is suffering from harm and abuse
(Morgan, 2013). This kind of people act as educator and negotiator that support people
and provide knowledge to them related to the rights and precise related their living in the
community and care services in the health and care organisation. Health professionals with staff- In this kind of person includes all nurses, lower staff
member and supervisors who have responsibility to take care of patient and care workers
(Lu, and et.al., 2010). These all staff memebers have responsibility to take care of patient
and deliver impressive care services to them through which they can improve their health
issue. Another responsibility of them to overcome the effect of abuse and negligence
within the health care organisation
 NSPCC- The major objective of these kinds of professionals is to protect the children and
individual who are suffering from the sexual abuse (McKeown and et.al., 2011). These
kinds of the professionals provides the safeguarding and care services to the patient who

is struggling in their life. They do not have any profit behind this aspect as they are just
non profit organisation.

CONCLUSION
From this report it has been summarised that safeguarding is very essential within the
health and care organisation by which children, adults, young people can not face any harm
within community and society. In order to provide protection and security to individual in the
community government have developed various kinds of legislation and policies that assist to
individual in living their life in effective and efficient manner. It has been also concluded that
health care organisation should organise health promotion camp in order to educate and aware
the people about their rights related to security.
