provide practices related to safeguarding (Everley, 2020). It include practices or elements like
advocacy, positive risk taking, making safeguarding personal and adult family group
conferences. In this it is essential to follow different laws, legislation and policies in order to
ensure that all the safeguarding practices are conducted in best manner. The respective project
include information related to different safeguarding interventions like safeguarding personal,
advocacy, positive risk taking and adult family group conferences in the context of Doris
case. Moreover it will also include evaluation of reasons related to using of safeguarding
practices or interventions as well as it also include several guidance, evidences and legislations
related to it. Along with this it also consider assessment of usage of care intervention.

as that will help in resolving issues as well as problems in effective manner. The main role of

The respective project is based on a case of Doris who is 83 year women living alone in
two bedroom flat at first floor which she owns. She is widowed 10 years ago and she has a
daughter and a son. Her daughter Jenny works in finance and she as well as her mother both are
very busy with her work and looking young child Henry. As age get increased of Doris she
started forgetting things as well as she also get confused. Doris's ground floor neighbour Jim is
very helpful and do shopping for her. Jenny hire carer Precious for her mother, but Doris become
distraught when Precious visited and at time Doris said Precious to leave by saying she cannot
trust anyone. This incident is reported by Precious to her manager at care centre.
Safeguarding interventions can be defined as those manual physical restraint that are
being used in situation of crisis. There are various benefits of adopting safeguarding intervention
that will protect and individual from harming themselves, harming others or intervention by law
enforcement. In the given case study, Doris is the individual who is in need of safeguarding
intervention (Croft, 2017). There are various methods that can be used for this purpose.
Following are the two major technique in this respect - Making safeguarding personal: This is
one of the most useful and important technique used for safeguarding intervention. Under this
method, there are various laws and guidance passed by Department of Health care and support
statutory and their main motive is to safeguard adults. Main characterizing feature of this method
is that it is person led. In other words, it can be defined as that whole system is oriented from
person point of view and not on the process. This process is whole outcome focused. This means
it is just focusing on reaching to results depending upon different circumstances. This technique
is engaging the suffering person and it is enhancing involvement, choice and control of the
person involved in the whole process. This system focuses on quality of life, well-being and
safety. This intervention is not just in the context of formal safeguarding but throws light in the
whole spectrum of safeguarding activity. According to the care act, there are some integral steps
that needs to be followed in developing making safeguarding personal for health and social care
commissioners and providers. This process starts from collecting strong leadership evidence of
making safeguarding personal, followed by promoting and making the culture shift that is

required. Next step is to defining core principles for strategy and practice, further promoting and
supporting workplace and workforce development, last step is to ensuring that staff are aware of
and are also responding to the requirements of the mental capacity act.
Moreover another is Positive risk taking: This refers to the process of encouraging
individuals to take positive risk in their lives (Duell and Steinberg, 2019). This does not mean
that individuals are being encouraged for dangerous task like sky diving or driving fast cars. It is
all about individuals bringing control on their lives and also making good choices. These choices
may be either negative or positive and further learnings received after making these choices can
be on either side, positive or negative. These learnings are then applied to real life to make things
possible. To specify, it is necessary that positive risk taking do not eliminate the need of
safeguarding and also the duty of care that support providers must work on. This process focus
on determining the risk associated with a task and then calculating the ways by which that
activity can be completed. There are some vital features that should be available in the solution
devised in the method above (Redley and et.al., 2015). These features are building confidence in
person involved in the process, developing new skills, teaching responsibility to take initiatives
in life, demonstrating the consequences those can occur on wrong choice of alternative in life,
etc. all these benefits are directed in making the life better and more enjoyable.
There are several reason for adopting safeguarding intervention at a workplace such as
they protect rights of individual as well as it also prevent a person from getting harm, abuse or
neglected. In respect of health and social care it is essential or duty of professional to safeguard
all the patients as well as it is also essential to provide additional practices for patients who are
less capable to protecting themselves from any incident like neglecting, abuse or harm. The
legislation related to safeguarding is developed by CCG, local authority as well as police
according to the requirement or situation (Knudsen, 2020). In addition to this, there are several

protecting individual who are loosing their mental capacity (Williamson and et.al., 2020). Due to
which these people not able to make effective decision by themselves which leads to reason for
which they required a carer with them always. The respective act is developed in order to protect
mainly those people who are 16 or above.
Furthermore, there are several principles or guiding of safeguarding adults such as
empowerment, protection, prevention, proportionality, partnership and accountability.
Empowerment is related to ensuring individual are being supported as well as confident in
developing its own decisions (Ong, 2020). Moreover it also give information consent related to

in proper manner. Protecting is related to supporting as well as representation related to greatest

of safeguarding is the partnership that includes forming better relationship or partnership with
local communities with the motive of developing the solution. This will help in detecting the

opportunities to work together for enhancing safeguarding practices. Accountability principles is
related to being accountable as well as complete transparency while delivering the safeguarding
practices. It is essential that individual is considering accountability while performing
safeguarding practices as well as make sure the every individual is significantly playing while
safeguarding vulnerable individuals. It is essential that all individual are considering these

In the case of Doris, making safeguarding person and positive risk taking are accurate
intervention that will help in supporting her. Doris is a old age women and it is crucial to
consider different factors as well as analyse its positive and negative impact while performing
safeguarding practices. It is important for carer to consider different elements which could harm
or negatively affect Doris in order to effectively and significant perform care practices. While
considering safeguarding practices better and accurate services could be providing to Doris. She
is leaving along and by make safeguarding person intervention she will be able to get personalise
support. This will help in reducing issues or harms as well as maintaining safety of her. Making
safeguarding person intervention is outcome based practices that will assist in carrying out
practices which is accurate and appropriate as per the need and required of the Doris. Through
this intervention she will be able to overcome various issues significantly. Through safeguarding
person needs and demand of Doris can be successfully attain as well as better and accurate
services could be provided which is appropriate as per the need of her (Luo, 2020). Another
intervention that is consider in the case of Doris includes positive risk taking. This is effective
intervention that is significant for determining the potential benefits and harms while exercising
the safeguarding intervention. Through this approaches carer will be able to analyse the pros and
cons regarding their choice of action. This will help in developing better strategies or action plan
in order to successfully and effectively carry out safeguarding practices in the case of Doris.
By conducting evaluation of above mentioned topic it can be summarised that for every
person it is essential to follow safeguarding practices as that will help in protecting themselves as
well as others from any disaster situation. It is essential that better as well as appropriate
practices are conducted as that will help in managing issues of an individual in best manner.
There are numbers of interventions which can be utilised by a health care provider in order to
insure that best treatment are provided to people as well as effectively such as safeguarding

assist a person in promoting welfare practices so that every individual feel protected at the
