INTRODUCTION
Criminal justice is that kind of justice which is been given in order to deal over criminal
activities and cases. This justice is helpful in delivering of justice in relation to crime committed
by an individual. It includes all kinds of government agencies and institution used for passing
judgement within criminal cases. Further such justice system helps in monitoring and controlling
crime within society. It has helped in taking decision upon heinous crime taking place within a
country. These kind of criminal justice makes rehabilitation of offenders, preventing other
crimes, and moral support for victims to be provided in order to provide second chance to
victims to live freely in society. Scope of criminal justice is wider in nature and nature is
dynamic which makes justice to be attained. Things covered in this essay is based upon criminal
justice system of England.

What measures has the criminal justice system introduced in recent years to support
victims of crime in England and Wales?
The United Kingdom is having four kinds of legal system which is based upon
geographical area which are English law, Scots law, Northern Ireland law and Wale law. These
laws deal upon those kind of aspects which exists within United Kingdom. Various kinds of
legislation is been formed which makes in order to makes these laws effective within specified
location(Forrester and Hopkin, 2019)However, unlike the other three, Welsh law is not a
separate legal system per se, merely the primary and secondary legislation generated by the

Welsh Parliament, interpreted in accordance with the doctrines of English law and not impacting
upon English common law (except where such Welsh legislation ousts a common law rule by
virtue of being a superior form of law). There is a substantial overlap between these three legal
systems and the three legal jurisdictions of the United Kingdom: England and Wales, Scotland,
and Northern Ireland. All legal system have jurisdiction which have been given to them. Legal
system followed within United Kingdom has been helping in creating impact over all kinds of
laws which has been existing within the legal system of United Kingdom. The legal system
makes parliament and judiciary to work as per powers assign to them. There are various kinds of
laws which exist within United Kingdom and controls crime of civil and criminal nature. Legal
system of United Kingdom has two main elements that legislative and judiciary. Legislative form
law with the help of proper process in the process three reading stage is involved. Also it
provides guidance to state in order make sure that legal authority of state is not lost due to new
laws. Bills in United Kingdom is been presented within House of Common and no discussion
takes place in first meeting. Second reading bill is been presented again for discussion and voting
which is done. If any amendment is suggested again bill is presented with the amendments and
then voting done again. After this bill is been send to House of Lords in order to make final
reading done and any amendment suggested by Lords then it is done. The final step is to get
Royal assets which mean signature of monarch the power has been given to them under Royal
assent act.
The judiciary helps in making legal system to be formed more effective. In United
Kingdom hierarchy of court is followed within which Supreme Court is the highest court of
appeal which handles all kinds of cases within United Kingdom. Then comes High court which
deals upon cases that has been passed from lower courts. Also handles appeals of all nature that
is why know as Court of appeal also. It is divided into three divisions that is queens’ court
handling criminal cases, chancellor’s court which handles cases of civil nature. Then comes
family division which is based upon handling matters related to marriage, family and children.
Then comes the lower courts which has been helping in dealing over cases at first instance such
cases can be of bit civil and criminal nature. Then comes special courts which have been formed
in order to deal over special matters such courts are tribunals, juvenile and administrative courts.
Then comes fast track courts that improvise decision making and justice of court. In the criminal
justice system victims has been special attention by forming laws related to equality, domestic
