Problem Statement or Opportunity
The undertaken project aims in solving the problems that commuters face while waiting for a taxi in peak hours.
Taxi is an important mode of communication. However, in peak hours, many people stand in the road side waiting
for taxis. The proposed project aims in reducing the waiting time for the taxis with the implementation of this
project, taxis can be booked and scheduled through smartphone.
Project Summary

The project involves development of a vehicle tracking system that will make use of the GPS system. Prior to the
development of the application feedbacks will be collected from common people to understand the need of the
application. The application aims in overcoming the problem of waiting for taxis in the peak hours.
Scope Definition
The E Taxi project’s scope was defined by following a planned information gathering process. A thorough and
detailed analysis of the proposed project was possible by collection of the feedbacks from the daily commuters. The
need for improving the daily commute services have gave rise to the need of similar types of application. The work
breakdown structure for this particular project is prepared by grouping the tasks into manageable units. To keep a
follow up on the tasks, weekly meetings are held in order to discuss the implementation approach of the task, so that
the proposed project can be delivered within the set time frame.

The above table indicates the main project deliverable of developing an E-Taxi. The project will be accepted only if
the software that is developed is tested and the software is found to be matching the requirements of the project.
Out-of-Scope Items

The E-Taxi project does not involves maintenance of the software.
Constraints
There are certain critical constraints linked with the project execution which are as follows-
 The sponsor will be contacted only twice per week
 The project should not take more than 10 months to complete
Assumptions
The main assumptions of the project are indicated as follows-
1. The funds required in the project will be released by the sponsor when required
2. The project can be completed within eight months
Scope Control
The undertaken E Taxi project is implemented by a dedicated project team. Timely supervision of the project is
ascertain to control the identified scope of the project. The project manager along with the project supervisor is in
charge of supervising the project progress. A RACI matrix is developed for depicting the responsibility of the each
resources in each of the project phases.
