1. This lesson plan was designed in accordance with the PDHPE K-10 syllabus, keeping stage 5 (year
9) under focus. The classroom has a variety of students ranging across a diverse inter cultural
demographic. Moreover, these students are also identified as having different learning styles. While
most of them have English as their first language, some of them ale belong to the EAL/D category.
Besides, their learning styles also differ based upon their personal preferences and choices. While
some of them may be good audio – visual learners, some might learn better with texts. This is why
this lesson plan is developed to include all possible learning styles.
2. Apart from the learning styles, another aspect that was taken into account was the cross cultural
identity. It is important to understand that in a classroom, there would be variety of students
belonging to a variety of cultures and communities and their attitudes and behaviour would also vary
based on certain social parameters. Therefore it is important to develop the lesson plan in a manner
that is deemed fit for all the students in a classroom in order to promote inclusivity and cross cultural
understanding.
3. The primary objective of the PDHPE lesson plan or syllabus is to promote positive aspects of health
and wellbeing amongst the children while promoting for literacy and numeracy skills. Tis lesson plan
is also intended to take care of that aspect. Literacy and numeracy skills are significant benefactors
for educational development. In the lesson plan, the aspect of health and nutrition is discussed and
developed in order to promote a scientifically justified background of healthy eating habits and
nutrition that introduces as well as build up on the knowledge of nutrition, healthy eating and
hygiene.
4. The key inquiry questions are identified from the k-10 syllabus (stage 5) as
What factors enhance inclusivity, equality and respect in relationships?
How can people respond positively to life challenges?
What strategies can I plan and prioritise in my community to empower individuals to
lead healthy, safe and active lifestyles for the benefit of my own and others’ wellbeing?
