INTRODUCTION
Self development is defined as a process in which an individual gradually develop their
characteristics and abilities in order to develop self. In this there are different types of skills as
well as qualities through which a person can maximize their potential and can develop personal
growth awareness and performance in an effective manner (Baker and et. al., 2015). By
reviewing quality of academic performance coursework and learning and development progress
individual can evaluate effective skills that are required by them in order to develop themselves
towards more growth opportunities. In this report different type of skills is define along with
student reflective account is being mentioned.
SKILL REFLECTION
At the time of my University tenure I undertake understanding of number of skills. Some of
the skills will already inherited by me but there are some other skills that are essentially required
by me for myself development. With the help of all these skills I can undertake responsibilities to
develop my academic career in an effective manner.
Time and task management Skill:
Time management is defined as a process in which individual is required to complete a
task in proper allotted time according to the priority and importance. While on the other hand
task management require proper management of a particular task with implementation of
different stages like planning, development and completion. In order to develop this skill I
understand effectiveness of good decisions and proper determination of priorities in order to
complete given task in allotted time. It is essential for a student to pay attention towards proper
time management as it not only develop them personally but also enhance their professional
career growth. With the help of teacher lessons I complete different task that are given to me
according to a particular timetable and task importance. This effectively helps me to develop my
time and task management skill.

Group Formation:
Group is defined as a combination of two or more individuals in order to perform work of
common interest or objective (Arndt and Naudé, 2020). Individuals and students perform their
work in a team or group in order to fulfill a common mission. It effectively ensures success in
academic and professional life. Students are required to understand important of group formation
skill as it allows them to perform their work with proper coordination and cooperation. Suring
my college lectures I understand belbin’s theory aspects in which team members are allotted with
different type of roles as per according to the capability and knowledge. Group formation not
only increases collaboration but also enhances efficiency of end outcomes. I develop group
formation skill importance by practicing it on continuous basis by performing my work during
University tenure in group. It increases my professional career aspects in an effective manner.

Presentation Skills:
Presentation skill acts as an essential aspect in a student and an individual life. As allow
them to bind large pace of audience for a favorable period of time towards particular topic. In
this it is important to understand effectiveness of proper speaking manner, body language, slides,
voice etc. At the starting stage of my college tenure I have identify that presentation skill of
mind is ineffective that creates number obstacles in front of me, but with the assistance of
teacher lessons and classroom sessions I have learnt this skills in effective manner. This benefits
me to work together with other students and effectively. It has been analyzed by me that my
verbal communication skill effective and I was not confident and feel shy in front in number of
individuals. In order to overcome this I understand the important aspects of presentation skills
like attractive slides, speaking skill, eye contact, body language that significantly increase my
skill efficiency and help me to score high grades.
Communication Skills:
Communication is defined as a process in which sharing of information ideas and message
with other individual is being done for a particular set of objective (Keddie, Black and Charles,
2020). With the help of effective communication skills student can ensure personal as well as
professional relationship in an effective manner. There are different forms of communication like
visual communication, nonverbal communication, writing communication and electronic
communication. During my college lectures it has been evaluated by me that it is essential for me
to develop my communication skills as it not only help me to improve my academic life but also
aid me with high confidence. With the help of communication skill I can strengthen my
relationship with others and can develop my profession growth as well.

Academic Integrity:
Academic integrity is defined as a commitment of moral and honest behavior in academic
setting (Shmeleva, 2020). This is most important aspect and most essential skill during university
level in which students and is required to provide proper credit to original writer if they use their
ideas, opinions and vision. I effectively developed academic integrity skill as it insure my
effective self development and maximize efficiency of my responsibility to provide
acknowledgement. It not only help student at University period of time but also enhance their
integrity professionally.
Academic Writing Skill:
Academic writing skill is a particular style that is used in formal essay or assessment. In
this individual student require to have proper understanding of formal structure of writing and

language in order to check their academic writing skill in an effective manner. It has been
evaluated by me that at my college time period there are for different type of academic writing
that are critical, descriptive, analytical and persuasive. All these aspects enhances my academic
writing skill that further helps me to accomplish all the important guidelines and requirements of
assignment and course work in best effective manner.
Reflective Learning Skill:
Reflective learning skill is define as an analytical practice and important for individual and
student to effectively evaluate situation and take accurate judgment (Flores, Kleyn and Menken,
2015). At the time period of my college lectures I understand importance of reflective learning
cycle that develops my learning as well as thinking process in feasible manner. With the
assistance of teachers lectures I develop effective learning skills of mine that for the allow me to
fulfill my assignment objectives by analyzing situations. With the assistance of reflective ideas
this personally and professionally develop students through which they can also identify their
strength and weakness and develop self awareness in order to plan their own development from
past mistakes.

Employability Skills
Employability skill is a set of behavior and skill that are essential for all jobs. It is a
foundational or soft skill that can be effectively developed by a student at the University time
period. This skill make an individual employable, by having proper assistance from my teacher
lectures I undertake good technical understanding of employability skills like resource
management, oral communication, problem solving, adaptability, organizational skills,
technology use and communication. It can further allow me to perform my work with
effectiveness it help me to at workplace.
CV Writing:
CV short form of Curriculum Vitae, it is a personal marketing document in which an
individual present their skills, professional history, achievements and abilities among prospective
employees. This is most important skill that is required to be effectively developed by a student

at the time of their graduate learning process. It is essential for them to apply for a job in future.
This skill has been effectively developed by me with the help of lecturers through which I can
impress recruiters and can approach to my prospective companies by ensuring their first
impression in effective manner.
Cover Letter Writing Skill
Cover letter is defined as a document that are send along with resume in order to provide
any other additional information related to an individual skill or experience (Basturkmen, 2014).
This letter provides effective information and inform employer about the reason for applying job.
This is most important skill as it has capability to attract first impression of recruiter in an
effective manner. With the assistance of college lecture I understand that cover letter is a one
page document that effectively introduces person professional skills, work history, personal
interest. With having proficiency in the skill I can ensure my professional development in an
effective manner.

HOW SKILLS HELP IN ACADEMIC LIFE
Throughout overall learning experience of mine it has been evaluated by me that, there were
different type of issues and problems that were faced by me, all these issues overcome with the
help of different skill that effectively shape my academic life cycle. Self development is most
important aspect in a student life as it improves their personal as well as professional career in a
gradually effective manner. It not only help student to gain high grades and marks but also allow
them to strengthen their confidence that increases their future growth opportunities. In this I have
understand importance of different type of academic skills like communication, presentation,
academic, writing, employability skills, reflective learning skills, academic integrity, group
formation, time management skills and more. All these skills help me to shape my academic
career. As communication skill assists me to interact effectively with other individual and deliver
my opinions views in front of them. In context with presentation skills it increases my
confidence to speak among large base of audience. Thus, both of these skills contributed
effectively towards my personal and academic career through which I secure maximum grades in
university tenure.
In addition to this I have evaluated by that I understand important aspects to develop my
presentation skill in which it is essential for me to increase efficiency of appropriate gesture,
pitch volume, dressing manner, body language and other essential aspect in order to enhance my

presentation skill. As this allow me to confidently share my ideas and topic via presentation
among large base of individuals with great confidence.
Further it has that evaluated by me that in order to ensure effective self development there
are different type of skills like academic, writing skills, group formations, academic integrity,
skill reflective learning skill, CV writing skill, employability skills and writing skills that are
required to be undertaken by me. It increases my future growth opportunities in a well-defined
manner. All these skills have been developed by me during my college tenure with the assistance
of teacher’s lectures. During lectures I develop my writing skills and perform my work in team
with other students, it enhances my team formation skill efficiency and also aids me to
effectively accomplish my roles as well and responsibilities in a well defined manner. By
performing my task in group allow me to undertake effective decisions and make significant
improvement in my personal relations. This increases my sense of responsibility towards my
work. Thus, according to the above mentioned discussion it has been determined that student is
required to understand importance of different type of skills and responsibility. They can develop
them in their college tenure as it ensures a golden professional career. All these can be developed
by them with the help of teacher lectures, it not only helps them to gain high grades but also
allow them to develop sense of responsibility among them.
CONCLUSION
As per the above mentioned report it has been concluded that, self development and
responsibility is most important aspect with the help of which students can learn different types
of skill for their self development. With the assistance of different type of skills like group
formation, presentation skill, academic writing skill, reflective learning skill time management
skill etc. students can increase their personal as well as professional growth in best effective
manner. By adopting all these skills during graduation time period students can effectively able
to maximize their growth development opportunities and can further ensure bright career.
