Self-efficacy and self-awareness: moral insights to increased leader
effectiveness
This article highlights about the leader need to have self-efficacy and self-awareness in
themselves to get a good performance in their work if they want to be a great leader. This
research paper looked at how the leader develop their personal qualities in organizations
and those with whom they work.
According to the author Caldwel, C. & Hayes, L. A (2016) that the self-efficacy and self-
awareness need more understanding as it is important for individual to enhance growth and
for ethical leaders to be able to empower themselves, their subordinates and the
organization in which they are working in. The leaders are able to know about themselves
and know how to plan the goal in their work to become effective leaders in the future. In this
way, they will achieve the goals that they want and able to have a good potential when
working with other people. In addition, the nature of effectiveness and self-awareness based
on ethics requires additional academic research. This paper identifying the six propositions
to the leaders increasing their self-efficacy and self-awareness to become effective
leadership.
The leaders need to emphasis the moral duties with their work and help the workers to get
the highest potential in themselves. Self-efficacy and self-awareness are likely related to the
moral duties because they will know their own capabilities and identities to be ethical leaders
in the organization. According to the Shao et al. (2008), the leaders need to have good
values in themselves that can be trusted and authentic to the others. Additionally, the
leaders need to learn and understand their expectations and emotions, so that they able to
capable in face the problems with a good handling of their actions.
Next, the duty of a leader is to make the world better and rather than compromising, they
improve themselves to the most optimum. Not to forget, leaders also have to live life at the
most upsege rather than decrescendo. A leader with a moral acknowledges that to create
wealth for society while crediting duties owned by others. The term ‘good is never good
enough and the enemy is great’ should be recognized by all great and honourable leaders.
After that, self-efficacy refers to one’s conviction that (s)he can perform well inside the
parameters of a specific circumstance. Also, self-efficacy could be a cognitive and full of
feeling conviction in one’s individual competence and appraisal of one’s capacity to
unquestionably act. According to Judge & Bono (2001), they discovered that self-efficacy
became significantly related to successful venture performance. One’s self-perception allow
