Electronic health record system (EHR) is the record of patient’s medical reports in which
electronically patient’s data, their demographics, medications, progressive notes and special
requirement of the patient is recorded (Yoo, Hwang & Jheon, 2016). As an information system
manager of the community care I would ask few semi structured questions to the physicians and
nursing professionals so that their perspective on the topic could be understood. The questions
will be as follows:
1. What do you think would be the benefit of implementing electronic health record
system in the place of paper based records and how it would benefit your care
process?
2. Do you require any special training or educational session for implementing
electronic health record in this care facility and how many sessions would be required
by you?
These are important questions that need to be asked to the nursing and healthcare
professionals. While transitioning from the paper based healthcare record system to electronic
record system, the organization need to develop SMART goals and the entire organization
including the employees should be provided with all these goals (Imison et al., 2016). This
should be done so that the employees and their valuable feedback could be collected and
important changes in the implementation of EHR could be achieved (Gheorghiu & Hagens,
2016). This would help the organization to understand the errors that occur due to the usage of
paper based healthcare record system and the rate of medication error registered in the process so
that they can compare it with the EHR implementation and could assess the benefits it would
bring in the care facility (Yoo, Hwang & Jheon, 2016).
