Sensory play
Sensory play is playing an essential role in developing the senses within the children.
According to Brouwers et al., (2010), sensory play is beneficial in developing five major
senses and these are smell, sound, touch, taste and sight. Therefore, the children, who are
facing the problem regarding dysfunction disorder or to increase sense within them, the
sensory play would be playing the most essential role. It is noted that during the development
period, the children require to learn how to use their senses. For instance, after the birth, the
children are stimulated for exploring the world with the help of their senses. This refers that
at birth, the senses of the children would not be developed; however, when they would be
connected in exploring the world, the sense would be developed. It would in turn help to
develop the architecture of the brain and they would be capable in the better use of the senses
of learning. Since, the children would be engaged with several textures, therefore, with the
passage of time they would be able to identify the difference between the smooth versus
rough, wet versus dry and soft versus hard. The benefits of the sensory plan would be
beneficial to develop the language skills, self-control skills, social skills, and scientific
reasoning skill etc. On the other hand, sensory play would lead to develop fine motor skills,
with which the children would be able to coordinate with the large muscle groups.
Autism
In the opinion of Barnett et al., (2012), it can be stated that autism that is the autism spectrum
disorder (ASD) is the developmental disorder, which can be characterised by the
complications in communication, speech problem, repetitive behaviour and social
interactions. It is characterised as the repetitive and the restricted behaviour. It is noted that
autism is correlated with the association of both the environmental and genetic factors.
During the pregnancy period, if the mothers would face the challenges like rubella,
infections, or have cocaine, excessive pesticides, then the occurrence of autism within the
children would be increased. However, the behavioural intervention would help the children
in gaining of social and the communication skills for reviving the autism disease. As per the
statistical report, approximately 24.8 million people were affected by autism in the year 2015.
