Introduction
Any kind of slow downtime can easily result in overall loss of revenue, overall
reputation damage and distress of severe. Overall availability monitoring helps to prevent
any kind of adverse situation which is achieved by uptime of components like application
and server [3]. Proper monitoring availability of given server and services can be
considered to be as one of the major issues which is being faced by organization. At
present, there are large number of challenges that are being encountered which
addressed on hardware, services and given application [1]. It is very much vital to have
an idea concerning the kind of resources that are being used by server and services
which are needed for running up.
The upcoming section of the report aims to provide a brief comparison between
the various network monitoring tools. The tools are mainly inclusive of Nagios Core,
CollectD, Spiceworks, Zabbix, OpenNMS and lastly WhatsUp. A proper discussion has
been provided concerning server availability monitoring architecture. A proper solution
has been provided concerning avoiding the data vulnerability in server availability tool.
The ending section of the report deals with overall impact of failure predication which is
needed for severe availability monitoring.
Discussion
Comparison
1. Nagios is considered to be as one of the well-known monitoring tools which is
needed for monitoring infrastructure. Nagios plug is completely available on the
present check on CPU load which is given on the system [7]. All the kind of editing
is made on the configuration file. Nagios plugin is made available for proper
monitoring which is available on the Linux System. Nagios core can be used for
monitoring and complete altering of engine that works like a primary application.
Nagios core has been completely designed in such that it can provide extensible

architecture which is needed for scalability and flexibility. It aims to work like API
that has feature needed for extensible by making use of addons. The overall scope
of Nagios core mainly focuses on duties of check like execution, scheduling, even
handling and lastly alerting [5]. The complete performance check is done on
sending notification and many other tasks that is out-of-scope.
2. Ganglia can be defined as a monitoring tool that helps in scaling up huge number
of servers and is needed for performance metrics. This particular network
monitoring tool is system that is cluster and grid [2]. The network monitoring tool
has been designed in such a way that it can provide very minimum amount of
overheads and much better accuracy. At present, Ganglia comes up with huge
number of cluster on the global platform. It is mainly needed for handling large
number of cluster that comes up with huge number of nodes.
3. Collectd can be stated as a daemon that helps in collecting system and required
application performance metrics [8]. It is mainly needed for providing mechanism
which is needed for storing the values in the given variety of mechanism in RRD
files. Collectd aims to collect metrics from large number of sources like operating
system, logfiles and related external devices that stores information [13]. It is
completely available on the given network where statics are mainly needed by
monitoring system, bottlenecks along with prediction of future.
4. Spiceworks Network monitoring tool can be considered to be free tool which
provides long tradition for providing high quality infrastructure management. This
particular network monitoring tool makes use of user interface [11]. This particular
monitoring tool helps is being marked like a free product. This particular network
monitoring tool is completely based on the activities of Cisco IOS-based switches
[7]. The tool is used in lab and monitoring some of the windows based system.
5. Cacti can be stated as a complete network graph solution which is needed to
harness the power of RRD tools, data storage and overall functionality of graph
