The objective of this study is to look at the positive as well as the negative aspects of the
use of social networking sites at workplace by the employees. In this context this study attempts
to put forward several arguments cited by experts. The first two paragraphs argue in the favor of
the practice of using social media at workplace. The next section of this argumentative study
opposes the indulgence of employees into social media during their duty hours and attempt to
establish the fact that, indulgence of the employees into social media during their office hours,
will decline their productivity. The final section of this study provides a concluding statement in
the support of the social media practices of the employees during their shift timings in the office,
along with this the conclusion section of this argumentative essay, emphasizes on the limited
used of social media, for the professional purposes, during their shift timing in the organizations
they are committed to.
According to Treem and Leonardi (2013), with the help of social networking sites,
employees will be capable of strengthening their professional relationships and communicate
with their peers as well as supervisors without wasting any extra time to communicate. Hence, it
can be said that the indulgence of the employees in the social media for the purpose of
establishing and retaining professional relationship without the consumption of any additional
