Skills Framework for Information Age and its Application in ICT Professionals

This text discusses the significance of Skills Framework for Information Age (SFIA) in ICT and recruitment. It also covers the use of SFIA in resume building and the importance of audio-driven designs for software development for the blind or visually impaired clients. Question 1
Skills Framework for the information age is used by most ICT professionals to associate the
skills he or she has in ICT (Gama, Mira da Silva, and Francisco, 2011). SFIA helps an ICT
professional in laying down the plans and strategies for building his or her career in ICT, it helps
in identifying and emphasizing on a path to career success. SFIA enables an ICT professional
when searching and finding employment because it helps in identifying the skill set that the
employer seeks and to what levels the skill set is needed by the employer. SFIA is used by
employers when doing recruitment
Question 2
I would use the SFIA framework to change the experience and the professional skills part of the
resume so that it identifies with SFIA. In the experience part, I would write; how accountable I
was with the responsibilities allocated to me, how planned I was in achieving the personal and
employer’s objectives, how I did schedule my work, the level of my communications with
customers, suppliers and colleagues. In the professional skills part, I would write of the specific
professional skills I have or have acquired over the years.
Question 3
Level1. This is because one is monitored while delivering work or labour has less influence on
the colleagues and uses basic technological skills. One is constantly learning new technologies,
skills, functions, tricks, and processes and is under strict rules and regulations of a certain
institution and organization. When situations become difficult the person seeks guidance from
more skilled persons.
Level2. This is because one follows specified organizational policies and guidelines can have a
little influence on the colleagues and has a great understanding of the skills he or she has
acquired. The person is well established in communicating with customers, suppliers, and
colleagues and also developing good relations with them

Question 1
When developing software for the blind or visually impaired clients, the designs for input and
outputs should be audio-driven, whereby the blind or the visually impaired people input data and
information through speech. The input can as well be of a tangible interface (Farr, Yuill and
Raffle, 2010) where the blind or visually impaired people use their sense of touch to input data
and information to the software.
Clients with limited or poor hand coordination. For instance, designing a game for these clients
you will ensure that the input method requires low hand coordination like tilting the screen to
control the direction of an object.
Question 2.
Proper disposal of the used and wrecked ICT facilities (Andreopoulou, 2012). When dealing
with used ICT facilities, proper disposal will help reduce pollution of the environment. Another
option is to recycle the facilities.
Turning off the computer when not in use. Computers emit heat that can be poisonous to the
environment especially when left on not in use for a long time.
Using ICT equipment that are environment-friendly. For instance, using a laptop is more
environment-friendly as compared to using a desktop computer. The less the equipment
consumes power the less the equipment emits heat that pollutes the environment.

Question 3
Building a computer, on a production line of identical computers is a process. The computers are
developed repeatedly using the same procedures and the end result or product is the same a
computer.
Building a house, as one of a series of identical houses all over Australia is a process. The houses
have to be identical therefore they go through the same building procedures and methods to
attain an expected result.
Upgrading a computer from windows 7 to windows 10 is a project. This is because how the
computer will behave after the upgrade is not certain (Turner, 2014).
Upgrading all 120 computers from windows 7 to windows 10 is both a process and a project. The
computers are taken through a specified repeated process of upgrading, on the other hand, the
end results for the computers after the upgrade is uncertain.
